  • Publication number: 20150210576
Abstract: In a waste treatment system and process, relatively low and high solids concentration streams are treated in generally parallel anaerobic reactors. The reactors may share a common wall or gas collecting cover. The reactors may also share a common downstream aerobic treatment unit. Solids produced during downstream treatment of effluent from one or both anaerobic reactors may be returned to the high solids concentration stream. The low solids concentration stream may be treated in an attached growth anaerobic digester.

  • Patent number: 8953605
Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus comprises a first switch configured to define an initialization packet that has a header value associated with a port from a set of ports associated with a link aggregation group. The first switch is configured to send the initialization packet to a second switch via the port based on the header value. The first switch is configured to receive an acknowledgement packet including the header value from the second switch in response to the second switch receiving the initialization packet. The first switch is configured to retrieve the header value from the acknowledgement packet such that the first switch defines, in response to the first switch receiving the acknowledgement packet, a response packet having the header value. The first switch is configured to send the response packet to the second switch via the port based on the header value.

  • Publication number: 20150016321
Abstract: Functionality can be implemented to improve performance of a direct wireless communication link. In one embodiment, a first network device provides an indication to a second network device that the first network device will enter a power save mode. While operating in the power save mode, the first network device periodically transmits a trigger frame to the second network device to determine whether the second network device comprises buffered frames for the first network device. The first network device receives the buffered frames from the second network device responsive to transmitting the trigger frame. In another embodiment, if both the first and the second network devices operate in the power save mode, the first network device receives a notification of available buffered frames from the second network device. The first network device transmits buffered frames destined for the second network device prior to transmitting a response to the received notification.

  • Publication number: 20150000156
Abstract: A spray dryer exhaust gas treatment system and process recovers waste heat, removes odors from the exhaust gas, or both. The spray dryer may be used to dry digestate from an anaerobic digester. Spray dryer exhaust is at least partially recirculated to the spray dryer, or condensable vapors are removed from the spray dryer exhaust, or both. Optionally, a bleed from a recirculating exhaust stream may pass through a combustion chamber. Preferably, waste heat is added to the recirculating exhaust stream or used to evaporate water upstream of the spray dryer. In a case where the spray dryer is used to treat digestate, a biogas burner may provide the combustion chamber and a source of waste heat. The system and method reduce odors from spray dryer exhaust by condensing odorous compounds, by combustion, or both while using waste heat and spray dryer exhaust gas recirculation to reduce energy consumption.

  • Patent number: 8795978
Abstract: Methods for screening for agents that modulate the activation state, i.e., active growth or persistence, of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), methods of treating an Mtb infection in a subject using agents identified by the screening methods, and methods for screening for a latent Mtb infection in a subject are disclosed. The screening methods involve contacting a Mtb sensor kinase with an agent to be tested, then detecting the response of the Mtb sensor kinase to modulating ligands or detecting changes in the oxidation state of the heme iron of the Mtb sensor kinase. The methods for treating an Mtb infection in a subject involve administering a therapeutically effective amount of an agent identified by the screening methods. The methods for screening for a latent Mtb infection in a subject involve detecting carbon monoxide or nitric oxide binding to heme iron of Mtb sensor kinases.

  • Patent number: 8780896
Abstract: An apparatus includes a replication engine of a switch module of a multi-stage switch. The replication engine is configured to receive a first validation packet from an input port of the switch module. The replication engine is configured to determine multiple output ports of the switch module to which a data packet can be sent to reach a destination device associated with the first validation packet. The replication engine is configured to define multiple second validation packets based on a number of output ports from the multiple output ports such that each second validation packet from the multiple second validation packets is uniquely associated with an output port from the multiple output ports. The replication engine is configured to send the multiple second validation packets to an output module configured to forward each second validation packet from the multiple second validation packets to its associated output port.
