  • Patent number: 7925558
Abstract: A system and method commoditize browsing time in a self-service store for a communication carrier. The method comprises communicating with a user, enabling the user to browse the store, tracking the amount of time the user spends browsing the store, calculating a charge, if any, for the amount of time the user spent browsing the store, and, if a charge is incurred, charging the user's account for such charge. In one embodiment, the self-service store is a voice store in which a user calls into the store. However, the invention is not limited to voice stores, and the invention could apply to stores accessed via text messaging, the web, etc. Communication with a user can be initiated by the user or by the self-service system.

  • Publication number: 20110080898
Abstract: Embodiments of a millimeter-wave communication station and method for multiple-access beamforming in a millimeter-wave network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, an initiating station performs multiple-access beamforming with one or more responding stations by announcing a number of sector-sweep (SS) slots of a beamforming training (BFT) period and a number of SS frames of each SS slot. One or more SS frames are received from one or more of the responding stations within one of the SS slots of the BFT period. The initiating station transmits one or more SS feedback frames to the responding stations within the one SS slot to indicate an antenna configuration to the responding stations for communication with the initiating station. The responding stations transmit a limited number of SS frames per SS slot based on the number of SS frames announced by the initiating station and transmit any additional SS frames in a next SS slot of the beamforming training period.

  • Publication number: 20110071041
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for characterizing carbohydrate polymer by identifying at least two binding agents that bind to the carbohydrate polymer. Binding is preferably determined by contacting the carbohydrate polymer with substrate that contains a plurality of first saccharide-binding agents affixed at predetermined locations on the substrate. The carbohydrate polymer is allowed to contact the substrate under conditions that allow for formation of a first complex between the first saccharide-binding agent and the carbohydrate polymer. A second saccharide-binding agent, which preferably includes a label, is also contacted with the carbohydrate polymer under conditions that allow for formation of a second complex between the second binding agent and the first complex. Identification of the first and second binding agent allows for characterization of the polysaccharide.

  • Patent number: 7907994
Abstract: Ventricular tachycardia signals are induced in a living subject. Pace-mapped signals are then obtained from multiple points within the ventricle, and automatically compared numerically with the induced signals. Recognition of a high degree of cross correlation between the induced signals and one or more of the pace-mapped signals identifies arrhythmogenic foci or pathways, which may then be ablated, so that the arrhythmia becomes non-inducible.

  • Patent number: 7890061
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses enable selective operation in an extended bandwidth channel of a wireless communication band. For example, a client station can be selectively authorized to operate on a 40 MHz channel in a 2.4 GHz band. The client station or an access point or both can determine whether interference exists in the wireless communication band. If potential interference exists, the client station may operate on a non-extended bandwidth channel. If potential interference does not exist, the client station may operate on an extended bandwidth channel. Operation between the two channels can be dynamic based on continued monitoring of the wireless communication band for potential interference.
