  • Patent number: 5280310
Abstract: An ink is ejected at the same timing from ejection orifices in a number corresponding to an ink quantity 7% or less of an ink quantity ejected from all the ejection enabled ejection orifices of a plurality of ejection orifices of a recording head, and the ink ejection period from all the ejection enabled ejection orifices is set to be 70% or more of the driving period. Since the quantity of an ink ejected per unit time is minimized, and the negative pressure level generated in a common ink chamber can be set to be closest to normal pressure, the amplitude of a refill oscillation is minimized to stabilize ejection, and the driving frequency can be further increased.

  • Patent number: 5162817
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus comprises an ink jet head having an ink path communicating with a discharge opening for discharging ink; electrodes arranged in said ink path; a residual ink quantity detection means for detecting residual ink quantity in said ink path in accordance with a resistance value, current value or voltage value from said electrodes; and a correction means for correcting said resistance value, current value or voltage value in accordance with the difference in a resistance of the ink. This enables the correction means to compensate for different ink resistances and thus provide accurate residual ink detection even when different inks are used or ink resistance changes because of a change in ambient conditions.

  • Patent number: 5142374
Abstract: In order to record an image having an excellent gradient by using inks of different densities, image data for dark ink and light ink are generated in accordance with the received image data. The generated data for dark ink is converted into a binary signal which is suitable for reproducing the resolution, while data for light ink is converted to another binary signal which is suitable for expressing gradient. In accordance with these binary signals, the discharge of each ink is controlled so as to record the image.

  • Patent number: 5060922
Abstract: A copying paper processing apparatus comprises a sorter, a stapling device for stapling sheets of copying paper sorted by the sorter, and a device for automatically selecting and setting a sort mode when a staple mode is selected and set. The processing apparatus may comprise a switch for selecting the stapling operation, and a device for automatically selecting and setting a staple mode when the staple selecting switch is turned on and a sort mode is selectively set. The processing apparatus may comprise a device for transmitting a signal indicating that there is no staple needle when the number of staple needles left in the stapling device is a predetermined number greater than the total number of bins of the sorter. The processing apparatus may comprise a device for inhibiting the operation of the stapling device when one of sensors respectively disposed in a paper-receiving base of the stapling device and a sorter bin of the sorter detects that there is no paper.
