Abstract: To provide a recording apparatus for recording at least content data and reproducing control information for controlling reproducing of the content data. The apparatus includes: a recording unit recording content data on a recording medium; and a control unit making a control to generate, with respect to the content data recorded on the recording medium, a clip information file including clip information indicating attribute information on the content data, a PlayList file including a PlayList for calling the clip information, an object file including an object for reproducing the content data by calling the PlayList file, and an index file including an index table for calling the object. The control unit correlates a type, based on a purpose of creating the PlayList file, with the PlayList file as attribute information of the PlayList file so as to make a control to generate the type in the index file.

Abstract: An information recording apparatus includes: a moving image input unit configured to input a moving image; a position information obtaining unit configured to obtain position information at the time of the moving image being input; a position information converting unit configured to convert the obtained position information into at least either bitmap data or text data, relating to a place determined with the position information thereof; a data stream generating unit configured to generate a data stream including at least either the converted bitmap data or text data, and video data corresponding to the input moving image; and a recording control unit configured to record the generated data stream as a moving image file.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for performing a data recording process that permits seamless playing are provided. An information processing apparatus such as a video camera records data in a manner that permits contents having discontinued recording timings to be played in a seamless fashion. To this end, the information processing apparatus acquires seamless information of a preceding record content to be applied to a recording process of a subsequent record content, and records the seamless information in a record file defined by a record format. For example, the seamless information is recorded in a clip information file. The seamless information remains recorded on an information recording medium as long as the content recorded on the information recording medium remains undeleted. The information processing apparatus can thus read and use the seamless information at any time.

Abstract: To allow AV data created after the start of recording until the end of recoding to be easily continuously recorded and reproduced for a long time as a file. A stream of which AV data have been multiplexed is recorded to a file in the unit of a packet. When the file size exceeds 2 GB with the next packet that is recorded, record control is performed such that the time of the last end of audio data of the current file matches the time of the beginning of audio data of the next file to which the stream is recorded, the current file is closed, and seamless connection that denotes that the closed file and the next file to which the stream is recorded are connected such that audio data do not overlap is set. A file is newly created and the stream is continuously recorded thereto. The recording of the file is stopped according to a stop operation. When the recording is performed for a long time, a file is automatically divided.

Abstract: A method for initializing a recording medium on which data is recorded in compliance with the AVCHD standard is proposed. Under a root directory of partitions, an ICB and FIDs for each directory contained in a directory structure defined by the AVCHD standard are recorded with consideration of information on child directories. Thereafter, an SBD and a metadata bitmap file are recorded in a partition and also, an LVIS is recorded on the basis of information, such as the number of sectors used as a result of recording the ICBs and the FIDs of all the directories and the total number of directories.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes an encoding and decoding unit for performing a data conversion process by decoding encoded still image data acquired from an information recording medium and generating moving image encoded data based on the decoded still image data, a medium control unit for performing a data re-recording process by recording the moving image encoded data, generated by the encoding and decoding unit, on the information recording medium in a predetermined data recording format, and a controller for controlling the data conversion process of the encoding and decoding unit and the data re-recording process of the medium control unit. The controller controls the data conversion process and the data re-recording process in response to user input information as to whether to execute the data conversion process.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for quickly starting recording seamless-playable data are provided. At the end of recording a preceding record content, identification information of a clip information file for a subsequent record content to be recorded next is recorded in an attribute information storage file set for the preceding record content. More specifically, a clip information file for a subsequent chapter is reserved at the end of recording of a preceding chapter, and an identifier of the clip information file is recorded in the clip information file for the preceding record chapter. Through the prior reservation process of the clip information file, an updating process for updating the clip information file at the start of recording of the subsequent chapter becomes unnecessary. Data recording, such as a photographing operation of a video camera is thus quickly started.

Abstract: A stream on a recording medium is divided into parts, and is subjected to rearrangement editing while the compatibility with a playback-only device is maintained. By adopting a division processing procedure of a play item, rearrangement processing of a stream for each chapter is achieved. In a product specification, a plurality of real play lists are put together into a series of chapter groups to be presented to the user, and thus there are cases where rearrangement of chapters are closed in the same play list, and cases where the rearrangement extends over a plurality of play lists. Moreover, rearrangement editing, which moves a chapter between real play lists, between virtual play lists, and further from a real play list to a virtual play list, is performed.

Abstract: An editing process is to be properly performed for video data that have been compression-encoded using inter-frame compression. Identification information that identifies a device that has recorded the stream file is extracted from the stream file that stores the video stream to be edited. When the extracted identification information represents a device that can encode the video stream with the same attribute as an attribute that the encoder of the editing apparatus can handle, an editing process is performed on the basis of a technique of decoding only a necessarily minimum region and re-encoding it. Otherwise, the editing process is performed on the basis of a technique of encoding all a video stream to be edited and re-encoding it. It can be determined whether or not the encoding process on the basis of the technique of decoding only a necessarily minimum region can be performed on the basis of only predetermined identification information contained in the video stream.

Abstract: A recording apparatus capable of multiplexing video data and audio data and recording the video data and audio data in multiple record units as one file on a recording medium includes a data receiving unit, a recording instruction receiving unit, a packet generating unit, a recording unit, and a control unit. Abstract: Division editing of a movie stream file picked up for a recording application is executed while conforming to a predetermined standard format. When a stream file is divided at an arbitrary division point, a preceding chapter is created by giving padding in an end region of a GOP including the division point in accordance with a length alignment restriction. Furthermore, a first extent of a succeeding chapter is created by copying the GOP including the division point and a GOP immediately succeeding it, a region formed of GOPs after the copied portion is used as a second extent of the succeeding chapter, and padding is given to an end region of the second extent in accordance with the length alignment restriction.

Abstract: An AV stream stored on a recording medium is edited in such a manner as to not conflict with a play-only standard format. When an intermediate portion of a stream file is to be deleted, the original clip AV stream file is divided at a deletion section, and a single ATC is provided for each file. When a play item is to be deleted in an intermediate portion of a playlist, the setting of seamless play with the immediately preceding play item is released in the final play item on the forward side, which is left after deletion is performed, and the setting of seamless play with the immediately preceding play item is released in the clip information file at the beginning on the backward side, which is left after deletion is performed.

Abstract: Recording of video data is enabled by a management structure of a clip which is compatible with a BD-ROM standard. In accordance with the recording starting operation, the recording of a stream in which the video data and audio data have time-divisionally been multiplexed on a packet unit basis onto a recording medium is started. In accordance with the recording stopping operation, the stream stored in a buffer is written as a stream file onto the recording medium and a clip information file corresponding to the stream file is formed. A play item showing the whole clip information file is formed and added to the existing play list on the recording medium. A mark is stamped to the play list at time corresponding to an IN point of the play item. Subsequently, the play item which is formed in association with the recording start and stop is similarly further added to the existing play list and the mark is further stamped at the time corresponding to the IN point.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an image recording apparatus and method, and a program for improving usability by removing operational constraints on combinations of an aspect ratio of a recorded moving image and a horizontal resolution from users while the compliance with the DVD-Video standard is strictly maintained. When an aspect ratio is 16:9 in a state that an LP mode is selected, a horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 720×480. When the aspect ratio is 4:3 in a state that the LP mode is selected, the horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 352×480. When an HQ or SQ mode is selected, the horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 720×480 irrespective of the aspect ratio. Accordingly, the image recording apparatus can encode a moving image and record the encoded image onto a DVD 17 without violating the DVD-Video standard while allowing users to arbitrarily select a recording mode and an aspect ratio. The present invention can be applied to video cameras, video recorders, etc.
