  • Patent number: 7962002
Abstract: The present invention relates to a recording apparatus and a method, a recording medium, and a program for allowing the relative layout of data recorded on a data recording medium to be maintained on the data recording medium without having to requiring a user to perform burdensome operation. A playback control section 82 controls reading of ARI_DATA indicating an attribute of data recorded on an optical disk from the optical disk. A data-format identifying section 86 determines whether data recorded on the optical disk is a photo movie based on the read-out ARI_DATA. If it is determined that the data recorded on the optical disk is a photo movie, a delete control section 83 controls deletion of the data from the optical disk optical disk so as to delete the photo movie. The present invention can be applied to camcorders.

  • Patent number: 7957625
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image recording apparatus and method, and a program for improving usability by removing operational constraints on combinations of an aspect ratio of a recorded moving image and a horizontal resolution from users while the compliance with the DVD-Video standard is strictly maintained. When an aspect ratio is 16:9 in a state that an LP mode is selected, a horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 720×480. When the aspect ratio is 4:3 in a state that the LP mode is selected, the horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 352×480. When an HQ or SQ mode is selected, the horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 720×480 irrespective of the aspect ratio. Accordingly, the image recording apparatus can encode a moving image and record the encoded image onto a DVD 17 without violating the DVD-Video standard while allowing users to arbitrarily select a recording mode and an aspect ratio. The present invention can be applied to video cameras, video recorders, etc.

  • Patent number: 7856167
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image playback apparatus and method, and a program for enabling a quick display of a last picture of moving pictures during fast forward playback as well as a first picture of the moving pictures during fast reverse playback. Concerning GOPs from a GOP at which the fast forward playback is started to a GOP#(N?1) that is immediately prior to a last GOP#N, encoded video data of I-pictures is stacked in a stream buffer, whereas concerning the last GOP#N, the encoded video data of all frames is stacked in the stream buffer. To the last GOP#N, only I-pictures are decoded and displayed. Thereafter the I-picture and the P-pictures in the last GOP#N is decoded, and only the last picture is displayed. The present invention can be applied to DVD players or the like.

  • Patent number: 7839749
Abstract: The present invention relates a recording apparatus and a recording method, a reproducing apparatus and a reproducing method, and a program that make it possible to easily judge whether data was recorded in a recording medium by an apparatus of own model. An own model/another model information generating unit 41 generates, for each arbitrary recording unit, own model/another model information that is information indicating that the recording unit was recorded by an apparatus of own model. A discrimination code calculating unit 42 sets VMGI and an effective management table TV as a continuous data sequence and sets a result of calculating a hash value of the data sequence as a discrimination code. A recording and reproducing apparatus 1 records the discrimination code and the own model/another model information in a management table TV area of an optical disk 51.

  • Publication number: 20100061700
Abstract: Under a device use environment in which a plurality of video-signal formats are present together, an operation of a video signal on a medium is performed in accordance with a proper video-signal format. In a UIAppInfo within a basic file of a loaded medium, reading is performed to detect which is set to 1, Is60 or Is50, and it is determined whether the read video-signal format matches a video-signal format supported by a target apparatus. In a case in which they match, use of the medium such as recording or playback is started; however, in a case in which they do not match, the use of the medium is not performed. The recording of streams of different video-signal formats is not performed on the same medium, the recording being a recording operation that is not allowed by AVCHD.

  • Publication number: 20100034508
Abstract: Division editing of a movie stream file picked up for a recording application is executed while conforming to a predetermined standard format. When a stream file is divided at an arbitrary division point, a preceding chapter is created by giving padding in an end region of a GOP including the division point in accordance with a length alignment restriction. Furthermore, a first extent of a succeeding chapter is created by copying the GOP including the division point and a GOP immediately succeeding it, a region formed of GOPs after the copied portion is used as a second extent of the succeeding chapter, and padding is given to an end region of the second extent in accordance with the length alignment restriction.

  • Publication number: 20100008647
Abstract: Management information for video data and audio data that are created after their recording is started until it is stopped and that are recorded as a stream file on a record medium is more securely stored. When their recording is started, EP entry information contained in management information of the stream file is created. Whenever EP entry information is created, it is written to a nonvolatile memory. After their recording is stopped, fixed value information and so forth that are contained in the management information are created and written to the nonvolatile memory. According to a disc eject operation, the management information written to the nonvolatile memory is written to the disc and the contents stored in the nonvolatile memory are cleared. Likewise, when power is turned off without the eject operation, information stored in the nonvolatile memory is written to the disc.

  • Publication number: 20090317067
Abstract: Recording of video data is enabled by a management structure of a clip which is compatible with a BD-ROM standard. In accordance with the recording starting operation, the recording of a stream in which the video data and audio data have time-divisionally been multiplexed on a packet unit basis onto a recording medium is started. In accordance with the recording stopping operation, the stream stored in a buffer is written as a stream file onto the recording medium and a clip information file corresponding to the stream file is formed. A play item showing the whole clip information file is formed and added to the existing play list on the recording medium. A mark is stamped to the play list at time corresponding to an IN point of the play item. Subsequently, the play item which is formed in association with the recording start and stop is similarly further added to the existing play list and the mark is further stamped at the time corresponding to the IN point.
