  • Publication number: 20050213154
Abstract: The processing flow of the invention calculates a total image area S or a sum of areas of images among elements laid out on a 1st page (step S306), and computes an image area ratio ? of the total image area S to a total paper area A of the currently set paper size (step S308). The calculated image area ratio ? of greater than a preset reference value ?ref leads to selection of ‘Photo Paper’ as the paper type (step S312). The calculated image area ratio ? of not greater than the preset reference value ?ref, on the other hand, leads to selection of ‘Plain Paper’ as the paper type (step S314). The processing flow subsequently determines whether the selected paper type is inconsistent with the paper type currently set in a printer (step S316). In the case of inconsistency of the paper type, the processing flow outputs a display of the type and the size of printing paper to be set in the printer (step S318) and waits for entry of the user's confirmation (step S320).

  • Publication number: 20050200896
Abstract: Rotation of drawing data is required when a page orientation specified in a document, which describes each object in a hierarchical manner in a preset format, is different from a specified medium orientation. Even under such a requirement, a printing device of the invention enables a laid-out and drawn image to be printed without any subsequent rotation. In the presence of an orientation change command given to eliminate the difference between the page orientation and the medium orientation, the printing device of the invention receives a layout command and determines a layout of each object in each page on the medium with conversion of coordinates at a preset position of the object in response to the orientation change command. In the presence of the orientation change command, the printing device of the invention receives a print command, fetches an object according to the stored layout in each page, and draws and prints the fetched object in response to the orientation change command.

  • Publication number: 20050157323
Abstract: A printer 20, which has functions of analyzing and printing an XHTML document, additionally has an SVGPI 37 that analyzes SVG statements and draws vector figures. The SVGPI 37 is activated, in place of an XML parser 34, to analyze each SVG statement included in a specified XHTML document, create an element, and additionally register the created element in a DOM tree. A layouter 38 lays out an element box corresponding to the created element, based on dimensions of the element box specified by the SVGPI 37. An RPI 40, in cooperation with the SVGPI 37, draws the created element in a memory 50.

  • Publication number: 20040246521
Abstract: The present invention provides information processing technology according to which image rendering corresponding to image rendering components for rendering an image of an input form or the like can be executed appropriately even when the image rendering components cannot be used. An information processing device of the present invention determines the image rendering positions within an image of various objects constituting the image, and outputs to image rendering means layout information including image rendering commands for rendering the objects in their positions.

  • Publication number: 20040223181
Abstract: When generating and printing an image based on a document written in XHTML or another structured tag language, the throughput of image generation and printing is improved. An apparatus of the present invention comprises judgment means for judging whether a document written in a structured tag language contains tags which can cause disagreement between the order in which the coordinate positions of objects are determined and the order in which object images are formed, and control means to perform control such that, when the above tags are judged to be contained, image formation processing is executed after processing to determine coordinate positions has ended, and when the above tags are judged not to be contained, processing to determine coordinate positions and processing to form images are executed in parallel.
