  • Publication number: 20120269088
Abstract: Before software for a routing protocol in a second wireless terminal receives a routing packet between a first wireless terminal and the second wireless terminal that are both included in an ad hoc network, stability determining software determines whether or not a link between the first wireless terminal, which is the source of the routing packet, and the second wireless terminal is stable. When the link is determined to be stable, the software for the routing protocol in the second wireless terminal processes the routing packet. This allows building of a route using only a stable link between adjacent nodes.

  • Patent number: 8265142
Abstract: An encoding bit-rate control method used in video encoding in which intraframe prediction and interframe prediction are switchably used. The method includes measuring an amount of code generated for quantized information and an amount of code generated for non-quantized information for the picture which has been encoded; computing a ratio of the amount of code generated for the non-quantized information to the total amount of generated code, based on the above measured amounts of code; and determining a target amount of code of an encoding target picture by using the computed ratio of the amount of code generated for the non-quantized information.

  • Publication number: 20120124571
Abstract: When a power supply is cut off on updating programs, improper data remains since the power source to be supplied to the vehicle-mounted device is unstable. The check for the improper data and restoration processing are required for a reactivation processing implemented by an update processing unit so that the update is completed correctly, therefore, the user is waited. In contrast, the update processing also implemented by the update processing unit for a time period during which the power source becomes unstable is interrupted, and implemented for the time period during which the power source voltage is stable. In consequence, the update processing is carried on steadily without making the user wait.

  • Patent number: 8061804
Abstract: A method of moving a cap apart from a printhead within a short period of time without damaging a printing apparatus when the cap sticks to the printhead. A cap moving unit is driven to try to move the cap apart from the printhead. When a detection unit for detecting that the cap has moved apart from the printhead detects that the cap has not moved apart from the printhead, it is controlled to slightly reciprocate the carriage while driving the cap moving unit. When the detection unit detects that the cap has moved apart from the printhead under this control, the slight reciprocation of the carriage is forcibly stopped.

  • Publication number: 20110013693
Abstract: A video encoding apparatus and a corresponding method for applying orthogonal transformation to a prediction error signal between a video signal of an encoding target area and a predicted signal for the video signal, and quantizing an obtained orthogonal transformation coefficient by using a preset quantization step size so as to encode the coefficient. A prediction error power which is a power of the prediction error signal is computed. For input information such as the computed prediction error power, the preset quantization step size, and an upper limit of an amount of code generated for the encoding target area, it is determined whether or not an amount of code generated when performing quantization using the preset quantization step size exceeds the upper limit. An encoding process is changed based on a result of the determination.
