  • Patent number: 5532682
Abstract: A control data transmission system controls an electronic switching system with few signal lines. Control data are split into a plurality of fixed-length bit blocks. The control data sequence number specification signals identify the fixed-length bit blocks. The control data sequence number specification signals are paired with corresponding control data signals carrying the contents of one of the fixed-length bit blocks and a control data validity specification signal for validating transmission of the control data. The control data sequence number specification signals are decoded and the contents of respective bit blocks carried by the control data signals are stored according to the decoding result and the control data validity specification signal. When the contents of the fixed-length bit blocks carried by the control data signals for one unit of control data are stored, the control data are analyzed.

  • Patent number: 5528433
Abstract: A video tape recorder enables a normal video signal for an aspect ratio of 4:3 or a wide-picture video signal for a greater aspect ratio of, for example, 16:9 to be selectively recorded/reproduced onto and from a magnetic tape. In order to identify which of the aspect ratios the reproduced video signal is based on, a recording mode signal indicative of the aspect ratio is recorded on the magnetic tape together with the video signal. A code signal or a pilot signal is used for the recording mode signal. In the reproducing operation, the aspect ratio of a reproduced picture is recognized from the recording mode signal, and a signal indicative of the aspect ratio is delivered to an external device, such as a television set, together with reproduced video/audio signals. In a case where the reproduced picture is a wide picture and where the external device does not conform to the wide picture, the aspect ratio of the video signal is changed.

  • Patent number: 5307171
Abstract: A video tape recorder/player capable of selectively recording a wide-band video signal including information for forming a picture of an aspect ratio a.sub.1, and a normal video signal for forming a picture of an aspect ratio a.sub.2. The video tape recorder/player comprises video signal discriminating means for discriminating between the reproduced wide video signal and the reproduced normal video signal reproduced from a magnetic recording medium, and time expansion means for expanding the time base of the reproduced video signal by a factor approximately equal to the ratio a.sub.1 /a.sub.2. Either the reproduced video signal or the output signal of the time expansion means obtained by expanding the time base of the reproduced signal by the time expansion means can be selected as an output signal when the video signal discriminating means detects the wide video signal.

  • Patent number: 5305457
Abstract: An initial program loading system in an information processing system containing a central processing unit and at least one peripheral apparatus connected to the central processing unit. The system transfers program data from the peripheral apparatus to the central processing unit. The system then loads the program data in the central processing unit, responding to an IPL request which is input into said initial program loading system. Each peripheral apparatus has a unit for sending a notification to the central processing unit that the peripheral apparatus is ready to transfer the program data to the central processing unit. After the central processing unit receives the notification, the transfer of the program data is carried out. The IPL request may be received in the central processing unit, or each peripheral apparatus. An IPL controller may be provided in the system.

  • Patent number: 5226151
Abstract: An emergency resumption processing apparatus for an information processing system includes a program pattern writing part established within a central processing unit, which writing part writes a program pattern that causes a watchdog timer to provide an overflow action in a loading area of the emergency resumption processing program on the main memory device of the information processing system. An emergency resumption processing program loading part established within the same central processing unit reads the emergency resumption processing program from an external memory device after the writing process has been completed, and loads it on the main memory device by rewriting the program pattern written by the program writing part.

  • Patent number: 5122885
Abstract: In a magnetic video recording/reproducing apparatus having a recording circuit for recording two kinds of video signals for different aspect ratios a.sub.1 and a.sub.2, where a.sub.1 >a.sub.2, a reproduced signal for aspect ratio a.sub.1 is subjected to a time-axis processing and then delivered to a monitor television having the aspect ratio a.sub.2 in order to avoid a picture on the monitor television from being so distorted as to be elongated vertically. During the time-axis processing, a Y/C interleave set-up processing and a time-axis variation correcting processing are also carried out as necessary. A reproduced signal for aspect ratio a.sub.2 is subjected to a time-axis processing and then delivered to a monitor television having the aspect ratio a.sub.1 in order to avoid a picture on the monitor television from being so distorted as to be elongated horizontally.

  • Patent number: 4916553
Abstract: In a rotary magnetic head helical scan type video tape recorder using a segment recording system, a video signal of one vertical scanning period is divided into n video signal blocks, where n is an integer equal to or larger than 2, and a redundant period having a selected length is inserted into the video signal blocks in a recording mode. Each of the video signal blocks has a number of horizontal scanning lines equal or smaller than N/n, where N is the number of the horizontal scanning lines in a field of the video signal. In a reproducing mode, a time axis error of reproduced series of the video signal blocks is corrected at least during the redunant periods. Then, the corrected blocks are converted into the original video signal.

  • Patent number: 4743977
Abstract: Disclosed is a VTR of the helical scan type having a plurality of rotary magnetic heads. This VTR can select one of a first and a second signal recording forms which are different from each other, and record signals on a magnetic tape. In the first recording form, a frequency-modulated video signal including a luminance signal and a color signal and a frequency-modulated sound signal are recorded on the same track so as to be superimposed one on the other. In the second signal recording form, a frequency-modulated luminance signal and a frequency-modulated color signal are recorded separately on tracks adjacent to each other. This VTR has compatibility with respect to the recording/reproducing of two different signals.
