  • Publication number: 20160066674
Abstract: A whisker catching assembly includes a panel that has a top side, a bottom side, a first edge, a second edge, a third edge and a fourth edge wherein the first and second edges are positioned opposite of each other. The panel is flexible and has an aperture therein extending through the top and bottom sides and positioned adjacent to the first edge. The first edge has a break therein extending through the first edge and through a perimeter of the aperture. The aperture receives a person's neck. A pair of tabs is attached to the panel between the aperture and the first edge and the tabs are overlapped to close the break between the first edge and the aperture. A closure is mounted on the tabs to releasably couple the tabs together. A pair of mirror engageable couplers is attached to the panel and extends away from the bottom side.

  • Publication number: 20120255990
Abstract: A welding method that utilizes a friction stir welding (FSW) technique to weld large structures, for example, very large cylindrical tower sections of wind turbines. The method involves welding at least two workpieces together by metallurgically joining faying surfaces of the workpieces. The workpieces are placed together so that their faying surfaces face each other and a joint region is defined by and between the faying surfaces. The workpieces are then friction stir welded together by forcing a tool into the joint region, rotating the tool about an axis thereof to cause the tool to penetrate the joint region, and causing the tool to travel along the joint region to form a weld joint that metallurgically joins the faying surfaces and produces a welded assembly comprising the workpieces.

  • Patent number: 6768486
Abstract: An approach is described for modifying subobjects of geometry objects based on per-subobject objects. A per-subobject object is associated with a sequence of components, such as a modifier stack, that are used to modify a geometry object. The per-subobject object may take one or more actions with respect to subobjects of the mesh object, such as applying data to specified faces. After a subsequent modification of the geometry object, the per-subobject object reapplies data to the faces that result from the modification. For example, the per-subobject object may specify the data to apply to faces that result from splitting faces during the modification or to faces that result from merging faces during the modification. The data for the faces may be accessed using a data channel that is associated with the per-subobject object.
