Patent number: 9197674Abstract: A method is described herein for enabling a person (presentity) to maintain their presence/IM service when they take their end-device and move/roam from a home network to a visited network. In one embodiment, while the person is located in the home network 104, their end-device (e.g., laptop, PDA, SIP/soft phone) uploads presence/IM information (e.g., presence rules, watcher list, service profile) from SIP/SIMPLE devices (e.g., presence server, SIP registrar, IM server). Then, after the person has taken their end-device and moved to the visited network, the end-device partially re-registers with the SIP registrar located within the home network. The end-device also partially registers with the SIP registrar located within the visited network. Once these steps are completed, then a person (presence watcher) can obtain presence information about the person (presentity) who is currently located within the visited network.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2006Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventor: Aziz Mohammed

Patent number: 8663722Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a process for removal of pesticide residues from aqueous solutions and food products by ionizing radiation. Standard pesticides concentrations recognized by international organizations as maximum residues limit (MRLs) were used as the targeted concentrations in both aqueous solutions and food products. Commercially known pesticides and recommended irradiation doses by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) were selected for this investigation. Aqueous solutions and food products fortified with pesticide residues were subjected to selected doses of ionizing radiation. Radiation-induced removal of pesticide residues is generally greater in aqueous solutions than in food products. Ionizing radiation can reduce the residues of pirimiphos-methyl in potatoes, grapes and dates; malathion and cypermethrin in grapes to below MRLs at the recommended irradiation doses.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2013Date of Patent: March 4, 2014Assignee: King Abddulaziz City for Science and TechnologyInventors: Ahmed Ali Basfar, Khaled Abdel-Aziz Mohamed

Patent number: 8239517Abstract: A presence-based transaction tracking method and system for communicating transaction information over a data network in which a sensing device in a host network associated with a transaction publishes presence information associated with a sensed transaction state to a server. A watcher subscribes to the server for receiving the presence information in which a middleware application can enable a watcher access across disparate client messaging systems.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2003Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventors: Jack Jachner, Kirit Mehta, Timucin Ozugur, Aziz Mohammed

Publication number: 20120138449Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and process to remove the remaining sulfur in four types of Arabian crude oils (Arabian Heavy) (AH) and straight-run diesel (SRD) by ionizing radiation. Radiation-induced desulfurization is not feasible for absorbed doses up to 200 kGy. Most of the organically bound sulfur and/or elemental sulfur and hydrogen sulfide still exist in the irradiated samples. Sulfur removal from crude oil and straight-run diesel was achieved by combining gamma-irradiation with other physical/chemical processes (i.e. liquid/liquid extraction and oxidation) which provided a considerable levels of total sulfur reduction in the investigated products (AH and SRD). The best removal processes for Arabian heavy crude oil and straight-run diesel resulted in reducing total sulfur content up to 36% (AH) and 78% (SRD) corresponding to (liquid process/200 kGy) and (liquid process/200 kGy) for AH and SRD, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2012Publication date: June 7, 2012Applicant: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST)Inventors: Ahmed Ali Basfar, Khaled Abdel-Aziz Mohamed

Patent number: 7928860Abstract: A system and method are described herein that includes a presence server which is capable of notifying a watcher about a location of a person using a rich presence element in accordance with security and privacy rules specified by the person. In the preferred embodiment, the system uses a read/write RFID tag and RFID reader as well as a presence server to collect, store and distribute location information as a presence element to the watcher. To accomplish this, the user data and program carrying capability of the read/write RFID tag is used to push to the presence server not only location information but also policies and rules established by the user to control the distribution of the location information as a presence element to watchers. The location policy rules can be made and controlled by the user and/or a third party.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2006Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventors: Aziz Mohammed, Fuming Wu

Patent number: 7921193Abstract: A presence server is described herein that implements a method which processes and integrates a presence watcher's communication preferences and a presentity's communication preferences and then distributes the integrated communication preferences along with the presentity's presence information so that the presence watcher can use this information to make a decision on how to contact the presentity. In this way, the presence watcher can achieve promoted communication satisfaction because they know now if they can contact the presentity using their preferred language/device (media type)/security mode (protocol). This enhancement of the communication satisfaction is possible because the integrated communication preferences provided to a presence watcher reflects not only the presentity's communication preferences but also the presence watcher's communication preferences.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2004Date of Patent: April 5, 2011Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventors: Fuming Wu, Aziz Mohammed, Alexander Audu
