  • Patent number: 10623091
Abstract: An improved technique for acoustic sensing involves, in one embodiment, launching into a medium, a plurality of groups of pulse-modulated electromagnetic-waves. The frequency of electromagnetic waves in a pulse within a group differs from the frequency of the electromagnetic waves in another pulse within the group. The energy scattered by the medium is detected and, in one embodiment, the beat signal may be used to determine a characteristic of the environment of the medium. For example, if the medium is a buried optical fiber into which light pulses have been launched in accordance with the invention, the presence of acoustic waves within the region of the buried fiber can be detected.

  • Publication number: 20200070034
Abstract: A process for the verification and validation testing of equipment and components for drilling, completion, production and general well construction (typically such as subsurface safety valves, wellhead trees, blowout preventers and wireline pressure control equipment) to determine the suitability of such equipment for use in oil and gas wells in high pressure high temperature environments. In particular, the process of the present invention comprises, among other steps, the steps of analyzing such components using an elastic-plastic finite element model with respect to certain preset load conditions and establishing stable model convergence, conducting a ratcheting assessment by running analysis on such model on all components that exhibit local plasticity, and examining all components to determine fatigue sensitive locations and subjecting such components to a fatigue analysis.

  • Patent number: 10282511
Abstract: A method for creating a parametric planing hull model is disclosed. In one embodiment, dimensions of a plurality of hull sections, including two non-adjacent hull sections, are received from a user. Dimensions of at least one hull section between the two non-adjacent hull sections are interpolated. Curves of the hull are generated based on the dimensions of the plurality of hull sections received from the user and the interpolated dimensions of the at least one hull section between the two non-adjacent hull sections. Surfaces of the hull are created based on the generated curves, and a planing hull model is generated from the created surfaces and is displayed.

  • Patent number: 10066528
Abstract: An arrangement for testing or treating a dosing valve of a dosing device of a dosing system in a vehicle includes connecting an electrical test drive to an electrical connector of the dosing device and connecting a dosing tester to a liquid inlet of the dosing device. Thereafter, an outlet valve of the dosing tester is opened to provide liquid under pressure to a liquid inlet of the dosing device. After a first given time, the electrical test drive provides pulses to repeatedly attempt to open the dosing valve. Upon a reduction in liquid level of liquid within the dosing tester in response to opening of the dosing valve, an operator closes the outlet valve of the dosing tester to discontinue the treatment.

  • Patent number: 9925993
Abstract: A train speed profiling system for use in connection with a train management system that can generate a virtual profile of a predetermined route having an estimated time of arrival at a destination based on data specific to the route and the actual train that will travel on the route. The virtual profile may be adjusted for any acceleration and any deceleration required by the train, and then optimized for reduced fuel consumption by reducing braking effort and improving coasting opportunities over the route if the estimated time of arrival is earlier than a desired time of arrival. The virtual profile may further be conformed so that the estimate time of arrival matches the desired time of arrival within a narrow threshold.
