The central server evaluates the radio surveys and determines a least congested radio channel for common use by all the client devices. The client devices may thus all switch to the least congested radio channel to ensure reliable radio service with an access device.

An example DSL diagnostic tool comprises a data collector to automatically collect real-time performance data associated with a subscriber, a database interface module to automatically collect historical data associated with the subscriber and to collect performance data associated with a neighbor subscriber line, a data analyzer to automatically analyze the real-time and historical performance data associated with the subscriber and the performance data associated with the neighbor subscriber line to identify a potential problem with an analyzed subscriber line associated with the subscriber, and a trouble ticket system interface module to automatically submit a repair ticket when the data analyzer does not identify a potential problem.

Abstract: A system for collecting data from a communications network includes customer premises equipment (“CPE”) for monitoring and storing response data. A CPE data collection module uses a Web-based service to collect information from the CPE and process the information to determine line quality and any errors that may exist on either the WAN side or the LAN side of the communications network, and further determine the root cause based on built-in business rules for trouble shooting customer service. The CPE conducts per-tone diagnostics on the WAN side of the communications network and obtains WAN side data. The CPE obtains response data from devices on the LAN side. Both WAN side data and LAN data may be transmitted substantially in real-time or stored and transmitted periodically to the CPE data collection module upon requests originated from the CPE data collection module.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for collecting data from CPE devices located on a remote LAN are provided. Communication is established over a WAN with a gateway attached to the LAN. The gateway is then used to enumerate the CPE devices on the LAN. A firewall pinhole is created in the gateway for each CPE device on the LAN, and communication is established through the pinholes to the CPE devices to collect the desired data.
