  • Publication number: 20120117377
Abstract: A security gateway/home agent controller HAC is used to assign one home agent HA from a plurality of HAs and to identify at least one security protocol that is common between a mobile node MN and the assigned HA. Establishment of a security association between the MN and the assigned HA is enabled according to the identified security protocol and utilizing bootstrapping parameters provided over a secure connection between the security gateway/HAC and the MN. The bootstrapping parameters include at least a home address for the MN, an address of the assigned HA and security credentials and security parameters for the identified at least one security protocol. In an exemplary embodiment the home address for the MN may be an IPv6 home address and the MN may have certain capabilities with respect to security protocols and ciphering suites which the MN sends to the security gateway.

  • Publication number: 20120072976
Abstract: A secure network access point transmits a beacon transmission. A user device receiving it determines it does not have credentials necessary to attach with the secure network access point oint, and so a preliminary association is formed between the user device and the secure network access point. During the preliminary association, the user device receives or creates credentials necessary to associate with the secure network access point, forms an association with the secure network access point using the received or created credentials, and obtains internet connectivity via the secure network access point. In this embodiment there is only the secure network access point, but in another embodiment there is also a non-secure network access point which transmits a beacon using the same SSID as the secure network access point, and the preliminary association is with the non-secure network access point.

  • Patent number: 8121047
Abstract: A Local Mobility Anchor/Agent (LMA), on seeing a Proxy Binding Update (PBU) with a same Network Access Identifier (NAI) but with a different access technology indication or interface identifier can assign a unique prefix to a mobile node (MN) via a PBAck message. The unique prefix avoids the creation of a duplicate address that would conflict with the address assigned to another interface that was configured using a prefix provided by the LMA. This solution can enable an MN to attach to different Mobility Access Gateways (MAGs) that are in different access networks of differing technologies but attached to the same LMA (i.e. the MAGs and the LMA are in the same PMIP6 domain) and not cause conflicts in prefix assignment or confuse the LMA into thinking that the MN had performed a handover (HO).

  • Publication number: 20120036271
Abstract: Systems and techniques for managing local communication between a network access point and a host device. Upon connection by a host device to an access point, a local connection link is established between the access point and the host device. A network connection may be established between the access point and the host device, with the network connection being able to pass through the host device to enable communication with and beyond an access network to which the access point provides a connection. Local messages may be passed between the access point and the host device over the local connection link, separately from and independent of communication that may occur over the network connection.

  • Patent number: 7953799
Abstract: The invention relates to a service control device and method for controlling service execution in a communication network. A service script for a user is loaded in response to the receipt of an incoming message, and it is checked based on a comparison of the loaded service script and the incoming message whether a service is to be triggered. If a service triggering has been determined, a service is activated in an external service execution environment. Due to the fact that the service execution is not performed in the service control point but in an external service execution environment, the service logic does not have to be provided at the service control point. It provides a flexible way to define, execute, and control user-specific, operator, and third party services combining various service capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20110087789
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided according to one example embodiment to allow a user device to access services over an overlay network. The method and apparatus of one example embodiment further allows a user device, such as a mobile terminal, to move freely across network access points without interruption in the services. An example method may include receiving a request for service, allocating an address to the request, configuring rules associated with the request, generating at least one routing table entry from the rules, and providing for transmission of the routing table entry and the address. An address prefix may be associated with the service, in which case the address includes the address prefix. Further, the address prefix may be associated with a unique overlay network. Prior to transmitting the routing table entry, the request for service may require approval. The address may be a static or dynamic address.

  • Patent number: 7636569
Abstract: A method for registering a home address of a mobile node with a home agent in a network. Instead of using the home address of the mobile node as the key element in identifying the mobile node, the home agent uses the network access identity of the mobile node included in a registration request sent by the mobile node to the home agent in the registration process. Upon receiving the registration request, the home agent authenticates the mobile node by selecting the appropriate security association based on the network access identity. In response, the home agent may send Authentication and Key material to the mobile node so as to allow the mobile node to further provide the home agent with a mobile node authentication for use in a challenge-response procedure.

  • Patent number: 7542481
Abstract: A mechanism for optimizing an establishment of a communication connection between a mobile node and a correspondent node in a packet based communication network using, for example, IP is proposed. After starting an application level communication connection setup, for example SIP based, between the mobile node and the correspondent node via a communication subsystem infrastructure, for example the IM subsystem infrastructure, a trigger signal comprising the address of the correspondent node is transmitted from the SIP layer to the IP layer in the mobile node via an interface. In response to the trigger signal, an IP level route optimization procedure is performed while the application level communication connection setup proceeds.

  • Patent number: 7539159
Abstract: A system for selectively updating an address of a mobile node capable of roaming in a home communication network and at least one visited network. The system including a database for storing at least one data entry which is a mapping between a humanly-readable identifier indicating the mobile node and a machine-readable identifier indicating a physical address at which the mobile node can be reached. A home agent in the home network has a connection to the database, and is operable to receive an update message from the mobile node when the mobile node roams into the visited network. Also there are units for determining whether the machine-readable identifier of the at least one entry in the database should be updated, wherein the database is updated if the update message additionally includes the humanly-readable identifier.
