  • Publication number: 20230306993
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relate to spin-orbit torque (SOT) devices. The SOT devices each comprise a non-magnetic layer, a free layer disposed in contact with the non-magnetic layer, and a bismuth antimony (BiSb) layer disposed over the free layer. The non-magnetic layer has a thickness of about 0.5 nm to about 2 nm. The BiSb layer has a thickness of about 5 nm to about 10 nm. The BiSb layer and the free layer have collective thickness between about 5 nm to about 20 nm. By reducing the thickness of the non-magnetic layer and BiSb layer, a read gap of each SOT device is reduced while enabling large inverse spin Hall angles and high signal-to-noise ratios.

  • Publication number: 20230263628
Abstract: A device for crimping a radially expandable and collapsible prosthetic valve comprises a crimping loop having a first end portion, a second end portion, and a loop portion extending between the first and second end portions and defining an opening configured to receive the prosthetic valve. The crimping loop is movable between a first state in which the opening has a first diameter and a second state in which the opening has a second diameter smaller than the first diameter such that when the prosthetic valve is positioned within the loop portion, movement of the crimping loop from the first state to the second state is effective to reduce a diameter of the prosthetic valve. A method for crimping a prosthetic valve comprises reducing a diameter of an opening of a crimping loop, thereby radially compressing an at least partially expanded prosthetic valve disposed within the opening.

  • Patent number: 11707357
Abstract: A delivery apparatus for implanting a radially compressible and expandable prosthetic heart valve in a native heart valve of the heart includes a handle portion and an elongated shaft extending from and movable relative to the handle portion. The shaft includes a proximal end portion coupled to the handle portion and a distal end portion configured to mount a prosthetic heart valve in a radially compressed state. The handle portion includes a control member movable longitudinally with respect to the handle portion, the control member engaging a gear assembly operable to convert longitudinal motion of the control member to rotational motion of the gear assembly. The gear assembly engages the elongated shaft such that rotational motion of the gear assembly causes corresponding longitudinal motion of the elongated shaft relative to the handle portion.

  • Publication number: 20230103353
Abstract: Devices and methods for crimping a prosthetic heart valve onto a delivery device are described. In some embodiments, valves are crimped over an inflatable balloon and between proximal and distal shoulders mounted on a shaft inside the balloon. Crimping methods can include multiple compression steps with the valve located in different axial positions relative to the crimping jaws at each different step. In some methods, the valve may extend partially outside of the crimping jaws during certain crimping steps, such that the crimping force is only applied to the part of the valve that is inside the jaws. Exemplary crimping devices can include two or more adjacent sets of jaws that close down to different inner diameters, such that different parts of a valve get compressed to different outer diameters at the same time during a single crimping step.

  • Patent number: 11582621
Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) device includes a spatial orientation sensor and logic circuit configured to determine spatial orientation of the RF device relative to a reference position or relative to a RF transmitter. In particular, the RF device determines a distance between the RF receiver and the RF transmitter based on a received signal strength of the signal and a determined spatial orientation of the RF device, by determining an orientation compensation value from a stored orientation compensation profile and determining a resulting compensated received signal strength. The RF device is thereby able to determine distance in an orientationally-invariant manner.

  • Publication number: 20220379094
Abstract: A delivery sheath includes an outer tubular layer and an initially folded inner tubular layer. When an implant passes therethrough, the outer tubular layer expands and the inner tubular layer unfolds into an expanded lumen diameter. The sheath may also include selectively placed longitudinal support rods that mediate friction between the inner and outer tubular layers to facilitate easy expansion, thereby reducing the push force needed to advance the implant through the sheath's lumen.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to compositions of phytonutrients and methods of treating diabetes by administering these compositions to subjects in need thereof. The compositions described herein are rationally designed compositions of phytonutrients that promote insulin sensitivity and have weight-loss potential. The compositions include formulation of rationally combined phytonutrients for diabetes treatment and management. Using nanofluidic proteomics, phytonutrients were classified as insulin sensitizing or anti-adipogenic based on their ability to enhance insulin-stimulated Akt2 phosphorylation and glucose uptake or inhibit adipogenesis, respectively. In some embodiments, the formulation includes a synergistic amount of insulin-sensitizing phytonutrients cinnamaldehyde and curcumin.
