  • Publication number: 20250067660
Abstract: This invention provides a system and method inspecting transparent or translucent features on a substrate of an object. A vision system camera, having an image sensor that provides image data to a vision system processor, receives light from a field of view that includes the object through a light-polarizing filter assembly. An illumination source projects polarized light onto the substrate within the field of view. A vision system process locates and registers the substrate, and locates thereon, based upon registration, the transparent or translucent features. A vision system process then performs inspection on the features using predetermined thresholds. The substrate can be a shipping box on a conveyor, having flaps sealed at a seam by transparent tape. Alternatively, a plurality of illuminators or cameras can project and receive polarized light oriented in a plurality of polarization angles, which generates a plurality of images that are combined into a result image.

  • Publication number: 20250070556
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems for providing secondary frequency regulation support to a power transmission system. In some embodiments, a real-time central controller requests current status data from a power distribution network which includes a plurality of distributed energy resources (DERs) and at least one substation battery energy storage system (BESS). The real-time central controller also receives an Automatic Generation Control (AGC) signal from a system operator, calculates a mismatch value, determines that the absolute value of the mismatch value is greater than a predetermined tolerance, and sets an optimal setpoint value for each of the plurality of DERs and an optimal setpoint value for the BESS. In some implementations, the real-time central controller next transmits a secondary frequency response that includes the optimal setpoint values to each of the plurality of DERs and the optimal setpoint value to the at least one BESS, thus providing secondary frequency regulation support.

  • Patent number: 12236276
Abstract: A system can train a neural network model at a first edge device regarding respective amounts of time to process data at the first edge device compared to corresponding amounts of time to process the data at cloud computing equipment that is connected to the first edge device via a communications network, wherein the data is generated at the first edge device. The system can update the neural network model to produce an updated neural network model based on information received from a second edge device regarding a performance of the cloud computing equipment in processing the data, wherein the first edge device and the second edge device having respective different processing capabilities. The system can determine whether to process first data, generated at the first edge device, locally at the first edge device.

  • Patent number: 12236607
Abstract: In embodiments, a processing device detects a margin line in a model of a preparation from one or more images. The processing device determines, for each segment of a plurality of segments of the margin line, a quality score for the segment. The processing device determines that a segment of the margin line has a quality score that is below a quality threshold, wherein the segment of the margin line was generated based on a first set of images. Responsive to determining that the segment of the margin line has the quality score that is below the quality threshold, the processing devices updates the three-dimensional model of the preparation by replacing a portion of the three-dimensional model associated with the segment of the margin line with image data from at least one of a new image or a second set of images.

  • Patent number: 12236340
Abstract: A computer system trains a neural network to predict, for each pixel in an input image, the position that a robot's end effector would reach if a grasp (“poke”) were attempted at that position. Training data consists of images and end effector positions recorded while a robot attempts grasps in a pick-and-place environment. For an automated grasping policy, the approach is self-supervised, as end effector position labels may be recovered through forward kinematics, without human annotation. Although gathering such physical interaction data is expensive, it is necessary for training and routine operation of state of the art manipulation systems. Therefore, the system comes “for free” while collecting data for other tasks (e.g., grasping, pushing, placing). The system achieves significantly lower root mean squared error than traditional structured light sensors and other self-supervised deep learning methods on difficult, industry-scale jumbled bin datasets.

  • Patent number: 12235651
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for determining obstacle data based on sensor data such as greyscale data and depth data. Based on the obstacle data navigation data may be determined and used by an autonomous vehicle to navigate an environment such as a warehouse or storage facility. The obstacle data may be determined by determining three-dimensional representations of the greyscale data and the depth data and segmented and combining or fusing the three-dimensional representations of the greyscale data and the depth data. The system used to determine the obstacle data may be trained to avoid false obstructions and omitted obstructions.
