  • Patent number: 7877214
Abstract: Techniques for protein structure analysis are provided. In one aspect, a method of analyzing a multi-domain protein structure comprises the following steps. For at least one domain, a hydrophobic dipole, e.g., defined as a first-order hydrophobic moment of the domain, is calculated. A score representing the orientation of the hydrophobic dipole of the at least one domain relative to a hydrophobic dipole of one or more other domains of the multi-domain protein structure is then calculated.

  • Publication number: 20100312453
Abstract: The present invention provides, with reference to FIG. 1, an internal combustion engine (10) having a fuel injector which comprises a sprung piston (55) or a resilient diaphragm piston (8155) and an electrical coil (57, 8158) for displacing the piston (55, 8155). The piston draws fuel into and expels fuel from a pumping chamber (52, 8152). The number of operations of the injector per engine cycle is controlled by an electronic controller (23, 8159) to control the quality of fuel delivered per cycle to a combustion chamber. A voltage measured in the coil (52, 8158) by movement of the piston under action of the spring or due to its own resilience is used to give an indication of vapour pressure of the fuel. A device akin to the injector can be used to draw fuel from a pipeline to measure the vapour pressure of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 7849047
Abstract: Methods and systems to analyze domain rules based on domain coverage of the domain rules are provided. First, the system receives a first plurality of data items from a database utilized by an information storage and retrieval platform, respectively counting the first plurality of data items to determine a total quantity of data items. Next, the system applies a plurality of rules to the first plurality of data items to identify a second plurality of data items associated with a first domain based on the respective rule, respectively counting the first plurality of data items to determine a first quantity of data items. Next, the system determines a percentage of coverage for the first domain, the percentage of coverage based on the first quantity of data items and the total quantity of data items. Next, the system represents the percentage of coverage as a first interface element within an interface.

  • Publication number: 20100193261
Abstract: The present invention is a system for supplying a long range electric vehicle and a nearby building with electricity from the sun in a cost effective way. Not only is the overall system totally efficient in the sense that virtually all solar electricity generated will be used, but the tilting solar roof that tracks the sun is a more efficient way to generate electricity than the normal method of putting stationary solar panels on the roof of a building or vehicle. Similarly, the car contemplated in the present invention will be able to achieve a far longer daily range than similarly priced electric cars. Because of the synergistic approach used, the overall system can play a significant part in weaning the world away from fossil fuels without creating huge costs that cash strapped consumers can't bear.
