Publication number: 20230399361Abstract: Here, we describe a minimalist approach to mimic the aggregation-prone modules within tau. We carried out a backbone residue scan and showed that amide N-amination completely abolishes the tendency of these peptides to self-aggregate, rendering them soluble mimics of ordered ?-strands from the tau R2 and R3 domains. Several N-amino peptides (NAPs) inhibit tau fibril formation in vitro. We further demonstrate that NAPs 12 and 13 are effective at blocking the cellular seeding of endogenous tau by interacting with monomeric or fibrillar forms of extracellular tau. Peptidomimetic 12 is serum stable, non-toxic to neuronal cells, and selectivity inhibits the fibrilization of tau over A?42. Structural analysis of our lead NAPs shows considerable conformational constraint imposed by the N-amino groups. The described backbone N-amination approach provides a rational basis for the mimicry of other aggregation-prone peptides that drive pathogenic protein assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2023Publication date: December 14, 2023Inventors: Juan DEL VALLE, Benjamin Howard RAJEWSKI, Kamlesh MAKWANA

Patent number: 10951683Abstract: A system and process are provided for remotely viewing a customer screen image and interacting with the customer's device (desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone) using a standard web browser. In operation, an agent is provided with an account on a server, and can send a link and/or instructions to the customer to provide the agent with access to the customer device. An application installed on the customer device captures image frames to be shared and divides them into subsections, transmitting to the server only those sections that have changed relative to the previously transmitted frame. The agent's browser retrieves tiles from the server as they change, and displays them for the agent. The system and process enable the agent to obtain system information and remotely control various functions of the customer device when authorized by the customer.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2017Date of Patent: March 16, 2021Assignee: Projector.is, Inc.Inventors: Benjamin Howard Lilienthal, Eugene Abovsky

Patent number: 10815011Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus is attached to a feature to be deployed on a satellite. The apparatus includes a first material having an impedance, a second material coupled to the first material configured to provide a current or voltage to the first material causing the first material to generate heat based on the impedance after a launch process of a launch vehicle carrying the satellite has completed, and a third material configured to change state at a transition temperature. A release mechanism is coupled to the third material and holds the feature in an undeployed position on the satellite. The heat generated by the second material causes the third material to change state when the transition temperature range is reached and the release mechanism is released from the third material when the third material is in the second state to deploy the feature.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2018Date of Patent: October 27, 2020Assignee: Planet Labs, Inc.Inventors: Jedd Perry, Narinder Kumar, Kelly Hering, Kevin Meissner, Bayard Gardineer, Benjamin Howard
