  • Publication number: 20170272465
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for automated detection and mitigation of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. One method includes an operation for collecting traffic data from service network routers that provide users access to a service. The traffic data is applied to security rules to identify a blacklist of illegitimate users to be blocked. Further, the method receives from the one or more servers a whitelist with information regarding legitimate users and their geographical location. A safe blacklist is determined for each router based on the blacklist and the whitelist, and the respective safe blacklist is sent to each router. Legitimate users are not blocked from accessing the service, but an illegitimate user spoofing a legitimate user is blocked by the routers when trying to access the service from a geographic location that is not the geographic location of the legitimate user.

  • Patent number: 9767798
Abstract: Methods of low power detection of an activation phrase are described. A microphone system comprises dedicated hardware logic for detecting a pre-defined activation phrase in an audio stream received via a microphone. If the pre-defined activation phrase is detected, the hardware logic sends a trigger signal to activate a module, such as a main speech detection module, which is external to the microphone system and which may be in a low power standby state.

  • Patent number: 9756318
Abstract: A method is provided for processing image data for display by a multiple-view display device (24) so as to reduce the visibility of undesirable artefacts. Image pixel data are received (20, 21) representing the pixel brightnesses of respective images or sequences of images. The pixel data are processed (22) by applying a unidirectional filter. The processed pixel data for the images may then be interleaved (23) and supplied to the display device (24).

  • Publication number: 20170227273
Abstract: Unique apparatuses, methods, and systems of opposing, limiting, and/or preventing undesired or un-commanded compressor rotation are disclosed. One exemplary embodiment is an HVACR system comprising a variable frequency drive configured to drive an electric motor to rotate a screw compressor or scroll compressor. A controller is configured to monitor various aspects of the system and to control the drive. When a condition indicative of potential undesired or un-commanded compressor rotation is identified, the controller commands the variable frequency drive to control the motor to limit and preferably prevent compressor rotation. One technique comprises shorting switches of the drive to a DC bus rail to allow back EMF induced current in the motor windings to be dissipated through winding resistance thus providing a damping force. Another technique comprises controlling the inverter to insert a DC current into the motor to cause the motor to align to and hold a particular position.

  • Publication number: 20170167769
Abstract: Systems and methods are used to control operation of a rotary compressor of a refrigeration system to limit or prevent movement of rotors due to axial thrust loading resulting from rapid changes in speed of the rotors of the compressor. The operational profile of the motor is controlled to maintain acceleration torque and deceleration torque within predefined limits. The acceleration torque and deceleration torque are maintained within the predefined limits by controlling the speed of the motor, or by controlling the torque applied by the motor to the rotors during acceleration or deceleration.

  • Patent number: 9679492
Abstract: An online educational publishing platform generates an effective grade point average for respective users of the platform by aggregating data describing educational activities of the users. The educational activity data includes users' interactions with pages of content distributed by the online educational platform, as well as data retrieved from user profiles of the users and external databases. The educational activity data is filtered into a plurality of categories and scored based on scoring metrics associated with the categories. Using the scored user activity data, the publishing platform generates the effective grade point averages. Each user may have multiple eGPAs whose value depends on how the eGPA was generated. Accordingly, an eGPA provides a quantitative representation of a student's academic engagement, achievements, and experiences.

  • Publication number: 20170127973
Abstract: An mucosal impedance (“MI”) device may include or utilize a retaining member sized to retain a tines structure including N tines, each provided with one or more impedance electrodes on each tine. The retaining member may mechanically deform the tines such that they fit inside it. The tines, made of spring like material, may be chosen, for example, for their elastic modulus and yield strength. The tines may be pre-conditioned with a shape that provides a spring tension force in the radial outward direction. When the retaining member or is retracted to release and expose the tines and impedance electrodes, the preconditioned shape and elasticity of the tines cause the tines to expand radially outward, providing an appropriate contact force of the impedance electrodes on the inner wall of the esophagus for a range of esophageal diameters.
