  • Patent number: 8050239
Abstract: The present invention discloses a technique for avoiding a signal collision in a wireless medium to improve communication throughput. According to this technique, in a radio communication system composed of a plurality of radio communication devices in such a manner that other radio communication devices exist within the communication area of a radio communication device, a given radio communication device is assigned a time slot periodically so that it can access the wireless medium in the time slot at higher priority than the other radio communication devices. This is achieved as follows: The radio communication device monitors the wireless medium, detects other radio communication devices operating within the communication area of the radio communication device, and divide communication time on the wireless medium into time slots of equal width according to the number of other radio communication devices.

  • Patent number: 8027322
Abstract: This system provides for communications between several different types of wireless networks and a mobile node. The system provides various services from a wireless network to a mobile node which is not covered by that wireless network without exhaustion of the mobile node battery. According to this system, the mobile node sends an update message to a currently accessible network node, which transfers the update message to the same or different types of nearby network nodes with incrementing the hop count for every transfer. The different type of network node that has received the update message checks whether the hop count decreases from that previously received, judges that the mobile node is approaching if the hop count decreases, and sends the guide message to the mobile node via the same and different types of networks.

  • Publication number: 20110200013
Abstract: The invention discloses a technique to adequately control a handover of a user terminal in a data communication network and to decrease the number of signalings. According to this technique, when address of a user terminal (UE (101)) is not changed after a handover, UE (101) transmits a session update signaling message to carry out update processing of application session to P-CSCF 1 (121) corresponding to a location before the handover via P-CSCF 2 (123) corresponding to a location after the handover. P-CSCF 1 (121) transfers a session update signaling message to S-CSCF/AS (125) by using setup of signaling relating to UE (100) before the handover. At S-CSCF/AS (125), the application session is updated by using registration information of UE (100) before the handover.

  • Patent number: 7969892
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique whereby a tunnel entry point, which encapsulates a packet (generates a tunnel packet), can detect the presence of a tunneling loop causing a packet to loop the same path while encapsulated. According to this technique, upon receipt of a packet from a source node (source) 1100, TEP (tunnel entry point) 1120 inserts it into a tunnel packet header for encapsulation. Upon receipt of tunnel packets from TEP 1120 and TEP 1140, each of TEP 1140 and TEP 1160 copies the identifier of the original tunnel packet header to a new tunnel packet header for encapsulation. When this tunnel packet returns to TEP 1120 due to a tunneling loop, the tunneling loop is detected by referring to the identifier in the received tunnel packet.

  • Publication number: 20110116450
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for surely supporting multihoming for a mobile terminal (mobile node) moving in a local mobility domain. A mobile node (MN) 11 connects via an IF 110 to a mobile access gateway (MAG) 102 that supports multihoming, and further attempts to connect via an IF 111 to a MAG 103 that does not support multihoming. Under these conditions, according to this technique, when the MN recognizes that the MAG 103 does not support multihoming, the MN notifies a local mobility domain that the MAG 103 does not support multihoming if connection with the MAG 103 is not yet established, and notifies the local mobility domain of information on a connection to a local mobility domain other than the MAG 103 (connection with the MAG 102) if the connection with the MAG 103 is already established.

  • Patent number: 7924745
Abstract: According to the present invention, connection can be always maintained between the mobile node and the access router, and disruption of on-going transport session can be prevented by making effective use of two architectures (hierarchical and mesh architectures). The mobile nodes 1000-1, 1000-2 and 1000-3 are attached to the access router 1100-1. When the mobile node maintains link layer connectivity with the access router, it is in the hierarchical mode, whereas when the link layer connectivity is lost, it enters the mesh mode. In the mesh mode, the mobile node attempts to establish virtual link layer connectivity with the access router through other nodes by using mesh network protocol such as MANET. In the mesh mode, the packet is capsulated between the mobile node and the access router when the mobile node and the peer 1400-1 communicate with each other.

  • Publication number: 20110013566
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique to reduce the number of messages to register mobile node position information with a home agent when a mobile node roams into a foreign network domain having a roaming relationship with a home network domain. Upon reception of network information 40, when the network information 40 contains a foreign prefix, a MN 11 creates a care-of address (CoA) using the foreign prefix (Step S44). The MN 11 further checks whether the network information 40 contains a home prefix (Step S45). When no home prefix is included in the prefix 203, a BU message is transmitted to a home MAP 1000 (Step S46). When a home prefix exists in the prefix 203, the BU message is not transmitted to the home MAP 1000 (Step S47).

  • Publication number: 20100316035
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique that, in a network-based local mobility management method, reduces the load of a network node for managing position information of a mobile terminal and achieves a high scalability with respect to the number of mobile terminals. According to the technique, a LMA (Local Mobility Anchor) (1000) assigns a primary network prefix to each of MAGs (Mobility Access Gateways) (1010, 1020) under the control of the LMA and registers, in a routing table, the correspondence relationship between the position information of each of the MAGs and the primary network prefix assigned to each of the MAGs. In addition, among MNs (MobileNodes) (1030, 1040) connected under the MAGs, for a MN that uses an address including a secondary network prefix, the LMA registers, in a binding cache, the correspondence relationship between the MN and the position information of an MAG to which the MN is connected.

  • Publication number: 20100315973
Abstract: A technique disclosed enables a node having a plurality of interfaces to conduct connection of the plurality of interfaces simultaneously in a communication network domain. A mobile node having a plurality of interfaces connects one of the interfaces with a MAG (mobile access gateway) 11a to take part in a NetLMM domain 18 using a NetLMM protocol, and a LMA (local mobility anchor) 13 includes association information with the MAG 11a registered therein. When the mobile node connects another interface with another MAG 11b, the LMA receives a registration request for association information of this mobile node with the MAG 11b, and makes an inquiry to the already registered MAG 11a as to whether link with the mobile node is still valid or not. If the link is valid, the LMA keeps association information of the mobile node with both of the MAGs 11a and 11b.

  • Patent number: 7852776
Abstract: There is disclosed a technique which can detect a packet routing loop (in particular, a nesting loop formed by MRs (mobile routers). According to this technique, an MR 114 connected as a subordinate to an MR 110 transmits a BU (Binding Update) message, to which added is an ARO (Access Router Option) including an address of a router (MR 110) connected at present, to an HA (Home Agent) 140 to which it pertains. Moreover, an MR 112 is connected as a subordinate to the MR 114 and, when connected to the MR 112, the MR 110 transmits a BU message, to which added is an ARO including an address of the MR 112, to the HA 140. At this time, the MR 112 also transmits a BU message, to which added is an ARO including an address of the MR 114, to the HA 140. Thus, the HA 140 can detect a routing loop formed by connections 120, 122 and 124.

  • Publication number: 20100268804
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for switching a forwarding address of a packet destined for a mobile node in a local mobility domain when the mobile node has a plurality of interfaces so that the packet will be forwarded to the mobile node. According to the technique, an MN 101 receives network information 40 including a domain ID 402 from a network through two or more IFs 1010 and 1011. Based on the domain ID 402 in the network information received, when determining that the IFs 1010 and 1011 are attached to the same domain, the MN 101 decides to allocate the same address to the IFs 1010 and 1011, and requests MAGs 111 and 112 connected to the IFs 1010 and 1011, respectively, to bind the same address to each of link identifiers of the IFs 1010 and 1011. Based on the request, the MAGs 111 and 112 perform binding to forward, to the MN 101, packets destined to the same address of the MN 101.

  • Publication number: 20100241737
Abstract: In this present invention, when the HA is performing Bulk Registration for a Multimode Node, the HA will tagged those CoAs specified within the single BU as unverified. A verification mechanism implemented at the HA will be triggered to test the addressability of the unverified CoA before using the said unverified CoA. The method of verification involves the HA to send an acknowledgment message to an unverified CoA of the Multimode Node to test the said unverified CoA for its addressability. When the Multimode Node receives the acknowledgment message from the HA, the Multimode Node replies the HA with another single BU. Upon the receipt of the second single BU from the Multimode Node, the HA can then verify that the said unverified CoA of the Multimode Node.

  • Publication number: 20100238864
Abstract: A technique is disclosed, according to which a race condition between a PMIPv6 binding by a PBU message of PMIPv6 and a CMIPv6 binding by a BU message of CMIPv6 can be resolved. MN 200 has a plurality of radio communication interfaces, and a first interface is connected to MAG 220 of a home PMIPv6 domain 230, for instance. In case the connection of a second interface is changed from MAG 221 of a home PMIPv6 domain to AR 222 of a CMIPv6 domain 231, a BU message 262 is transmitted from the second interface to LMA/HA 250, and identification information of this BU message is notified to MAG from the first interface. By adding time information to this identification information and by transmitting it to LMA/HA, MAG can identify transmission time of the BU message (i.e. relative order with the other messages) from this time information.

  • Publication number: 20100214998
Abstract: A technique to optimize packet transfer in a network is disclosed. According to this technique, a mobile node (MN) 1000 having a plurality of interfaces transmits a filter rule where setting conditions are defined to each of MAG (motility access gateway) 1060 and MAG 1080 connected for the purpose of setting the packet received by each of the interfaces. MAG transfers the received filter rule to a local mobility anchor (LMA) 1010. After analyzing the filter rule, LMA specifies the network node where the filter rule should be reflected and updates the filter rule only to this specific network node. For instance, in case MN desires that a packet from CN 1090 is received via a path 1002, LMA manages that a packet destined to MN as transmitted from CN is to be transferred to MAG 1060 with respect to MAG 1020.
