  • Patent number: 11927736
Abstract: A method of characterizing a serum or plasma portion of a specimen in a specimen container provides a fine-grained HILN index (hemolysis, icterus, lipemia, normal) of the serum or plasma portion of the specimen, wherein the H, I, and L classes may each have five to seven sub-classes. The HILN index may also have one un-centrifuged class. Pixel data of an input image of the specimen container may be processed by a deep semantic segmentation network having, in some embodiments, more than 100 layers. A small front-end container segmentation network may be used to determine a container type and boundary, which may additionally be input to the deep semantic segmentation network. A discriminative network may be used to train the deep semantic segmentation network to generate a homogeneously structured output. Quality check modules and testing apparatus configured to carry out the method are also described, as are other aspects.

  • Patent number: 10765849
Abstract: The invention relates to applicators for applying a solution or other composition (e.g., an antiseptic composition) to skin of a patient. The applicator may include a container body having a proximal end, a distal end, and a frangible member disposed at the distal end of the body. The applicator includes a first position where the container body and frangible member are a unitary piece (e.g., blow molded as a single piece), and a second position when the frangible member is rotated relative to the body to irreversibly break a weak point therebetween, releasing the composition in the hollow body through an opening. A porous applicator head may be positioned adjacent the distal end of the body and frangible member, so that the composition flows out the body, through the opening, and onto the head. The applicator may be formed in a blow-fill-seal process for improved sterility and ease of manufacture.

  • Patent number: 10413137
Abstract: Dispensing containers including a bottom, a top, and one or more side walls defining an interior cavity within the container. A support structure adjacent the bottom of the container forms an angle between a top surface of the support structure and the bottom that is from 120° to 150°. This allows the container to accommodate a rectangular stack of wipes positioned within the interior cavity of the container, in a substantially vertical orientation, with the short side contacting the bottom of the container, and the underside of the stack contacting the top surface of the support structure. The stack of wipes may be taller than the height of the container, fitting into the container due to the slightly angled orientation of the stack, the flexible nature of the stack of wipes, and the support structure allowing the stack to bend or flop over the support.

  • Patent number: 10278552
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a flex pack wipes dispensers for dispensing wipes. An exemplary wipes dispenser may include a flexible container body having an opening through which the wipes are dispensed. A plurality of wipes (e.g., a stack) is contained in the flexible container body. A closure is provided over the opening through the flexible container body, configured to allow a user to selectively open and close access to the opening. The closure may include a perimeter flange sealed to the flexible container body, a base defined within the flange which initially covers the opening in the flexible container body, and a tear-away orifice covering in the base. A shape of the covering includes a perimeter following a pathway that includes a portion forming an angle that is greater than 90° relative to a direction of pull used to tear the covering from the base.
