Abstract: Improved techniques and graphical user interfaces that assist users in searching through a group of media items are disclosed. According to one aspect, a search assistant (e.g., search bar) can be graphically presented to a user to assist the user in selecting search criteria. In one embodiment, the search assistant can be automatically presented when a search process is being considered by a user. In another embodiment, the search assistant can be context sensitive so as to adapt to different types of media items.

Abstract: Improved graphical user interfaces and techniques for providing remote media content to users are disclosed. According to one aspect, an application window display on a display device can expose a user not only to local media content but also to remote media content that is associated with the local media content. The local media content is stored locally, while the remote media content is stored remotely and available from a remote media server. According to another aspect, the remote media content to be displayed can be determined in a manner that is dependent on a user interaction with the local media content. According to still a further aspect, the manner by which the remote media content is displayed can be dependent on the availability of remote media content at the remote media server.

Abstract: Improved techniques to manage or restrict sharing of media assets over a network are disclosed. A server computer having media assets can permit one or more clients to receive access to such media assets over a computer network. However, the access to such media assets can be restricted based on numerical limits as well as temporal limits. The media assets can, for example, be digital media assets, such as audio items (e.g., audio files, including music or songs), videos (e.g., movies) or images (e.g., photos).

Abstract: A technique for displaying a variable number of images on a display, such that a portion of the display contains the thumbnail images representing the library of images currently in use. A user selects a number of thumbnails, and another, often larger, portion of the screen, displays the underlying images of the selected thumbnails. The images are displayed on the screen in proximity to facilitate the comparison of the images, and the size of the displayed images is based upon the size of the portion of the screen and the number of images displayed.

The method includes receiving unstructured text documents, such as emails over a customer service system. Term candidates are extracted based on identifying consecutive word strings satisfying a context independency threshold. Term candidates are weighted using mutual information to generate a list of weighted terms. The weighted terms are then recounted. Terms are associated based on Chi-square values. Associated terms can then be used for information retrieval. A user interface can be personalized with individual user profiles.

Abstract: A dynamic condition monitoring system is disclosed for monitoring dynamic conditions such as vibration in a machine system. The monitoring system includes monitors coupled to sensors instrumenting the machine system. A multi-core processor in the monitors performs complex functions including managing exchange of data from the sensors and remote monitoring equipment, and analysis of the received signals, such as to derive vibration profiles via fast Fourier transform. Cores of the processor may be dedicated to such functions, or the cores may share responsibilities for the functions, such as through multithreading.

Abstract: An apparatus for making a bioprosthetic stent graft is disclosed, the stent having a stent frame and a biomaterial sheath suturelessly bonded to the stent frame. An automated energy irradiator guidance system is disclosed which reduces the potential for human error and improves the consistency and repeatability of tissue welding techniques. The system includes a mapper, a patternizer, an energy director and can additionally include an energy regulator. An interface is included, allowing pattern creation, selection and editing by a user. The system further provides control of energy irradiator parameters for use in tissue welding.

Abstract: An electrochemical cell cooling system includes a closed loop for circulating coolant through an electrochemical cell. The loop includes a pump for pumping the coolant from a container through a filter and a heat exchanger. Pressure in the container and loop is selectively adjusted upwardly for a positive pressure condition or downwardly for a negative pressure condition using a pressure-adjusting flow line. The flow line includes a venturi in fluid communication with the container and a shut-off valve downstream of the venturi which is opened to induce depressurization of the loop or closed to cause pressurization. A variable-flow valve upstream of the venturi enables fine adjustment of the pressurization or depressurization. Alternatively, a flow-restricted bypass and a second variable-flow valve can be introduced to facilitate coolant temperature control.
