  • Patent number: 8965329
Abstract: A wireless communication device comprises a processing system, a memory system, and a wireless communication transceiver. The processing system is configured to maintain device status information in the memory system of the wireless communication device, encode the device status information to generate an update status message in a bitstream protocol, and detect a condition of the wireless communication device which could impede a connection with a wireless access node. The wireless communication transceiver is configured to, in response to the processing system detecting the condition of the wireless communication device, transmit the update status message before the connection with the wireless access node is lost.

  • Publication number: 20150025920
Abstract: A method for improving boarding of passengers and baggage onto a flight, comprises, at a predetermined time before the scheduled departure of the flight, determining an eligible carry-on baggage items count of carry-on baggage items eligible for treatment as checked baggage items. The eligible carry-on baggage items count is based on predetermined criteria comprising at least one of an aircraft type for the flight, a passenger load factor for the flight and carrier historical data relevant to the flight. If the eligible carry-on items count is greater than zero, then an offer to a passenger on the flight to have the passenger's carry-on baggage item treated as a checked baggage item is communicated, and the passenger's communication in response to the offer is received. For each accepted offer, decrementing the eligible carry-on items count.

  • Publication number: 20140241617
Abstract: Camera or object pose calculation is described, for example, to relocalize a mobile camera (such as on a smart phone) in a known environment or to compute the pose of an object moving relative to a fixed camera. The pose information is useful for robotics, augmented reality, navigation and other applications. In various embodiments where camera pose is calculated, a trained machine learning system associates image elements from an image of a scene, with points in the scene's 3D world coordinate frame. In examples where the camera is fixed and the pose of an object is to be calculated, the trained machine learning system associates image elements from an image of the object with points in an object coordinate frame. In examples, the image elements may be noisy and incomplete and a pose inference engine calculates an accurate estimate of the pose.

  • Patent number: 8788457
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for ensuring that archival data deleted in a source table is already stored in a target table. An external data source sets a flag in the first table to identify the row in the source table to be deleted. An application sets a flag in a second table for each row of the source table that is marked to be deleted according to the first table. The application performs uncommitted read operations on the source table for each row corresponding to the distinct primary key values stored in the first table. The application inserts the data read into the corresponding rows of the target table. The application deletes the rows in the source table indicated to be deleted by the second table. In this manner, the archival data deleted from the source table is ensured to already be stored in the target table.
