  • Publication number: 20190352853
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing a decorative tissue product, while controlling tensile degradation in a predicable fashion. The foregoing properties may be achieved using differential depth embossing in conjunction with an embossing pattern having particular characteristics. The use of an engraved roll, such as an embossing roll, having protuberances of differing depths and patterns not only improves the properties and characteristics of the fibrous structure, but may also be used to impart a unique pattern that provides the product with a distinctive look and is appealing to consumers. Generally the unique pattern results from a first set of protuberances having a first height and defining a first pattern and a second set of embossing elements having a second height and defining a second pattern, where the first height is greater than the second height.

  • Publication number: 20190329320
Abstract: In exemplary implementations of this invention, an actuated fabricator deposits structural elements (e.g., tensile structural elements) in a 3D pattern over large displacements. The fabricator is supported by at least three elongated support members. It includes onboard actuators that translate the fabricator relative to the ends of the support members. The fabricator is configured, by actuating different translations along different support members, to translate itself throughout a 3D volume. In some implementations, each of the actuators use fusible material to fuse metal tapes together, edge-to-edge, to form a hollow structure that can be shortened or lengthened.

  • Patent number: 10408314
Abstract: In exemplary implementations, a target rod is actuated. The target rod is part of a set of threaded, elongated rods, the longitudinal axes of which are substantially parallel to each other. The set of rods has an interior region and a perimeter region. Actuators induce vibrations in a set of perimeter rods. These vibrations are substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axes. Furthermore, the vibrations are transmitted to interior rods, causing a target rod in the interior region to rotate about, and translate along, the longitudinal axis of the target rod. The target rod undergoes stick-slip motion relative to adjacent rods.

  • Publication number: 20190272626
Abstract: A rendering process and system that may be used to composite virtual objects in panoramic video to provide a virtual reality and augmented reality experience. The process includes receiving low dynamic range (LDR) video data, e.g. 360° video; generating radiance maps, such as diffuse and specular maps, from the LDR data; inverse tone mapping the LDR data of the maps to generate high dynamic range (HDR) data for the maps; and receiving at least one virtual object and applying image based lighting (IBL) to the virtual object using the HDR data of the maps. A perceptually based threshold is also applied to radiance maps to detect prominent pixels, and using the prominent pixels as salient lights for image based shadowing (IBS) associated the virtual object. Objects are composited 360° video in real time using IBL and IBS without precomputation allowing user interaction with the objects.

  • Patent number: 10392921
Abstract: A downhole tool is provided for measuring accelerations at a location within a subterranean borehole. The tool is rotatable around the longitudinal direction of the borehole. The tool includes four accelerometers, each accelerometer measuring acceleration in a respective direction and being arranged such that at least a component of its measured acceleration is normal to the longitudinal direction. The accelerometers are further arranged such that no more than any two of the four accelerometers have their respective components parallel to the same direction. The tool also includes a first device which measures the rotational speed of the tool. The tool also includes a processor unit which relates the acceleration measured by each accelerometer to the true acceleration at that accelerometer by a respective scaling term and a respective offset, and combines the measured accelerations and the tool rotational speed to re-calibrate the scaling terms as the tool rotates.

  • Publication number: 20190232013
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a patient interface for sealed delivery of a flow of air at a continuously positive pressure with respect to ambient air pressure to an entrance to the patient's airways includes collecting anthropometric data of a patient's face. Anticipated considerations are identified from the collected anthropometric data during use of the patient interface. The collected anthropometric data is processed to provide a transformed data set based on the anticipated considerations, the transformed data set corresponding to at least one customised patient interface component. At least one patient interface component is modelled based on the transformed data set.

  • Patent number: 10305847
Abstract: A social networking system identifies an event based on a thread including messages from users of the social networking system and communicates invitations to the event to one or more invited users. The social networking system receives a response to an invitation from a responding user and identifies a group of users invited to the event that have not responded to the invitation. From the users invited to the event that have not responded to the invitation, a subset of users having a threshold affinity to the responding user are selected. The social networking system notifies the subset of users of the responding user's response to the invitation and may also provide the subset of users with a suggestion for attending the event.
