  • Patent number: 6196183
Abstract: A direct-injection Otto cycle internal-combustion engines can be operated in the stratified charge mode with a later fuel injection during the compression cycle and a lean mixture formation and, with an operating mode with a homogeneous mixture formation, by fuel injection during the intake cycle which is provided for higher load ranges of the internal-combustion engine. The exhaust gases of the internal-combustion engine are decontaminated by an NOx storage catalyst which must be periodically regenerated during a homogeneous mixture formation and at rich fuel/air ratios (&lgr;). To permit a fast change of the operating mode and particularly the regeneration of the storage catalyst without changing the running performance of the internal-combustion engine, the fuel quantity to be injected per power cycle, is apportioned during a homogeneous operating phase during the change of operating modes, corresponding to the actual intake air flow rate by adjusting the respective injection time.

  • Patent number: 6079562
Abstract: A bag of folded disposable diapers including folded diapers arranged in at least two superimposed stacks in a direction substantially parallel to their thickness. Each of the diapers has a pair of substantially planar surfaces which are oriented to be substantially parallel to the side panels of the bag and each diaper is folded along at least one folding line in the cross direction so as to define at least one folded area and two non-folded end areas. The diapers are arranged in the bag such that the non-folded end areas corresponding to the waist areas are positioned inwardly, away from the end panels of the flexible bag.

  • Patent number: 6026957
Abstract: A package comprising an array of at least two substantially parallelepipedal packs, the packs including compressed flexible articles encased in a flexible bag, and a flexible paper covering disposed adjacent the whole of the bottom panel of the array and a substantial part of the side panels of the array corresponding to at least 30 percent of the height of the array. The paper covering is held under tension around the array so as to create a strong and protective outer casing for the array.

  • Patent number: 5971153
Abstract: A package (1) comprising an array (3) of compressed, flexible absorbent articles (5) that have a front face (7), a back face (9), a top face (6), a bottom face (8), side faces (10), an upper section (11) and a lower section (13). The upper and lower sections have mutually different compressibilities and calipers, and the absorbent articles are placed with the front and back faces in a contacting relationship. The package comprises a flexible outer casing (19).

  • Patent number: 5660709
Abstract: The invention concerns an electrochemical process for the production of mllic hydroxides and/or metallic-oxide hydroxides from metal ions and hydroxide ions, as well as a device for carrying out the process. The metallic hydroxide and/or metallic-oxide hydroxide is formed in a chamber K, bordered on the cathode side by a bipolar membrane, and the required hydroxide ions arise by means of a bipolar membrane, the anion-selective layer being arranged on the anode side. The metal ions are either fed into the chamber K or formed in the chamber K in the presence of an agent, present in the chamber K and at a pH>7, which complexes the metal ions. The device for implementation of the process exhibits a cylindrical head geometry, connected to a conical geometry.

  • Patent number: 5091070
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of continuously removing and obtaining ethylene diamine tetracetic acid (EDTA) from the process water of electroless copper plating. For that purpose the process water containing the EDTA is directed into an electrodialysis cell alternatingly equipped with bipolar membranes and anion exchange membranes and/or cation exchange membranes, and to which a potential difference is applied. The EDTA is converted into its charge-neutral form by means of protonation, and the protons required for that purpose are generated via bipolar membranes through electrodialysis. The required pH-value is adjusted by a pH-controlled electric field regulation via the bipolar membranes.
