  • Patent number: 8027388
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention relates to a method of transferring data in a communication system. In the method, an initial impulse noise protection value is determined. A number of redundancy bits is added to blocks of data to form codewords as a function of the initial impulse noise protection value, where the impulse noise protection value corresponds to a number of consecutive symbols that can be corrected. The number of symbols that can be correctly transmitted is changed by changing only the number of redundancy bits added to each block of data.

  • Publication number: 20110072327
Abstract: Embodiments related to retransmission in a communication system are described and depicted. In one embodiment, a retransmission entity repeats a transmission of a data transfer unit by the device after a predetermined number of other transmitted data transfer units has been transmitted. The retransmission entity may also determine whether a measure for a time period since the first transmission of the data transfer unit by the device has exceeded a predetermined threshold and to provide a final transmission of the data transfer unit based on the determining that the measure for the time period has exceeded the predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7826520
Abstract: In a method for suppressing an interference signal during a transmission of data symbols between two transceivers, a transmit data symbol sequence is transmitted from a first transceiver to a second transceiver. An interference signal, which has occurred during the transmission of the transmit data symbol sequence, is detected in dependence on a received data symbol sequence, and the data symbol of the transmit data symbol sequence, which data symbol was transmitted last, is repeatedly transmitted from the first transceiver to the second transceiver when the interference signal occurs.

  • Patent number: 7769052
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention relates to a network device. The network device includes a receiver configured to be coupled to a transmission medium supporting a multi-carrier channel over which data is communicated as symbols in a first communication state according to an initial bit-loading configuration. The receiver is further configured to detect noise that can corrupt the symbols on the multi-carrier channel. In addition, the receiver is configured to, in response to the detected noise, allocate at least part of the multi-carrier channel to a transient robust channel that facilitates adaptive communication. • Publication number: 20100070817
Abstract: One embodiment relates to a method of processing data in a transmitter. In the method, a timestamp is generated for a data unit. The data unit is stored in a memory unit in the transmitter. The data unit is transmitted from the transmitter to a receiver. The transmitter waits up to a predetermined time measured with respect to the timestamp to receive an acknowledgement from the receiver. Based on whether the acknowledgement is received within the predetermined time, the transmitter selectively retransmits the data unit to the receiver. Other methods and systems are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100046549
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a physical line receiver is coupled to at least one of a plurality of bonded communication lines over which a sequence of packet fragments are transmitted as data units. The physical line receiver includes at least one physical sublayer that transfers packet fragments recovered from different ones of the data units received by the physical line receiver to a bonding sublayer for packet reassembly until the physical line receiver is instructed to stop transferring packet fragments because of a transmission error on one or more of the bonded communication lines coupled to a different physical line receiver. The at least one physical sublayer also buffers the recovered packet fragments without transferring the buffered packet fragments to the bonding sublayer until the physical line receiver is instructed to resume transferring packet fragments to the bonding sublayer.
