Patent number: 5834224Abstract: An electrochemical sensor is provided containing a supporting material having a surface of noble metal such as gold or palladium to which is bound an enzyme such as glucose oxidase via binding molecules. The binding molecules are in the form of a homogenous monolayer and are bound to the metal surface by anchor groups such as thiol, disulphide or phosphine groups. The enzyme is linked to the binding molecules by an ionic bond, a covalent bond or a metal-chelate bond. The binding molecules may contain a spacer such as an alkylene chain. Coverage of the binding molecules on the metal surface is less than the maximum coverage to optimize enzyme coverage, decrease response time of the sensor and increase signal yield per surface area. The monolayer may contain diluent molecules which are not linked to an enzyme and which are bound to the metal surface via anchor groups.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1995Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Boehringer Mannhein GmbHInventors: Petra Ruger, Dorothee Ambrosius, Bernd Schmidt, Peter Sluka, Hans-Joachim Guder, Erhard Kopetzki

Patent number: 5372090Abstract: A support crucible includes a central axis, outer radii including longest outer radii defining planes with the central axis, a side wall region having a circumferential direction and a bottom. At least two neighboring segments are separated by joints extending substantially vertically in the side wall region to the bottom and penetrating the bottom. The joints define opposed surfaces of the neighboring segments which always overlap each other in the circumferential direction of the side wall region in an operating state. Each of the surfaces is intersected by a respective one of the planes, at least in the side wall region. According to another embodiment, the joints defining opposed surfaces of the neighboring segments have complementary shapes, the surfaces are formed by cuts beginning at a jacket surface of the side wall region and extending parallel to the central axis and at an angle to the planes, and the cuts extend in a curve to the central axis.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1993Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Assignee: Ringsdorff-Werke GmbHInventors: Julius Wegmeth, Bernd Schmidt

Patent number: 5215347Abstract: A seat unit can be screwed automatically to the body platform at four fixing points without the need to alter the seat setting during screwing and has a sufficiently rigid connection, in particular a sufficiently firm connection for seat belts which are fixed to the seat, to the body platform. The fixing regions are provided in the floor rail itself, in particular in each case at a distance from the free ends of the latter and in a profile region, extending essentially parallel to the body platform, of the floor rail. These regions are joined directly to a steep wall and, with the latter, in each case form a ramp, and are oriented such that they enclose as small an angle as possible with the floor rail, although this angle is kept sufficiently large that, in an installation setting of the seat unit, the axes of the holes extend in front of the front side of the seat and behind the rear side of the seat with a clearance of a few centimeters, which makes possible the use of a screwdriver unit.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1991Date of Patent: June 1, 1993Assignee: Mercedes-Benz AGInventors: Josef Klink, Bernd Schmidt, H. Patent number: 5083864Abstract: A graphite tube furnace for atomic absorption spectroscopy has a specimen support. The graphite tube furnace is constructed with zones disposed substantially symmetrically around the center of the furnace. The shape of the zones is largely matched and matchable to the functions of the device, such as electric contacting, prevention of heat sinks, restriction of an atomization chamber, provision of an atomization chamber and holding of the specimen support. The specimen support is formed in such a way that in practice it is no longer heated by Joulean heat or thermal conduction, it is secured against movements and it has a minimal mass.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1991Date of Patent: January 28, 1992Assignee: Ringsdorff-Werke GmbHInventors: Bruno Huetsch, Bernd Schmidt

Patent number: 4606600Abstract: In a passive infrared movement detector having a reflector which directs the radiation from a plurality of fields of vision to an infrared detector arrangement and for this purpose consists of a plurality of individual reflectors, the reflecting surface of the reflector is composed of a plurality of facets produced at the reflector. The disadvantages of such a reflector are in particular to be seen in the fact that for each required distance range of the passive infrared movement detector a reflector adapted thereto must be used. Furthermore, the production of such a reflector is relatively expensive. In order to avoid these disadvantages, the individual reflectors are proposed to be in the form of spherical reflectors which are arranged on a reflector carrier in a manner so as to be shiftable in different directions and lockable in adjusted positions.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1984Date of Patent: August 19, 1986Assignee: Inovatronic elektronische Systeme GmbHInventor: Bernd Schmidt
