  • Patent number: 6611575
Abstract: A method and system are provided for generating at least one three-dimensional image of an object volume. The three-dimensional image is generated by applying a selected three-dimensional (3D) visualization technique on the tomosynthesis data. The tomosynthesis data of the object volume is obtained by an imaging device for irradiating the volume with radiation at a plurality of radiating positions. The imaging device generates a plurality of spaced-apart planar images through the object volume from a plurality of projection radiographs which are derived by detecting radiation at the plurality of radiating positions.

  • Publication number: 20030138078
Abstract: A radiation imaging system comprises a movable radiation source adapted to be disposed in a plurality of respective radiation source positions; a radiation detector and a collimator assembly configured to displace a collimator in a plurality of respective collimator positions, each of the collimator positions being coordinated with at least one of the radiation source positions such that a radiation beam emanating from the radiation source is collimated to limit radiation incident on the detector to a predetermined exposure area. Another radiation imaging system comprises a movable radiation source; a radiation detector; and a collimator comprising an adjustable geometry aperture assembly configured such that an adjustment of the aperture geometry is synchronized with the movement of the radiation source and coordinated with the radiation source position so as to limit the incident radiation to a predetermined exposure area at the detector.

  • Publication number: 20030072478
Abstract: A method for reconstructing a three-dimensional radiographic image includes acquiring views of an object from at least two projection angles with a medical imaging system. The medical imaging system includes at least one radiation source and at least one detector array to generate projection data of the object. The method also includes backprojecting the projection data across an imaged volume, and processing the backprojected data using a non-linear operator to generate a plurality of medical images representative of the imaged object.
