  • Patent number: 11064392
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for partitioning of time-frequency resources for access and backhaul links separately. A centralized scheduler in a centralized system or a set of access nodes (ANs) in a distributed system may allocate a portion of a set of resources for a given link type (e.g., access or backhaul). In some cases, multiple ANs may exchange reports or measurements to determine the resources to allocate to a given link type. The allocated resources may be repurposed for use by a different link type (e.g., access resources may be repurposed and used for backhaul resources) in order to account for varying traffic conditions.

  • Publication number: 20210194664
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for resource allocation in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network. A relay node in an TAB network may be assigned a first resource partition that is different from a second resource partition for the child and parent nodes. Based on a resource configuration (e.g., for a slot) of the second resource partition, the relay node may opportunistically utilize the second resource partition for communications. For instance, the relay node may determine a direction table based on the resource configurations of the child and parent nodes, which may be used to perform uplink or downlink communications in one or more symbols of the second resource partition. The relay node may also identify flexible symbols as free or non-free when determining the direction table.

  • Patent number: 11044072
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless communications system operating in millimeter wave (mmW) spectrum may utilize synchronization signals for beam tracking. A synchronization signal (e.g., primary synchronization signals (PSS), secondary synchronization signals (SSS), etc.), beam reference signal, and/or control signal may be designed to facilitate beam tracking. A synchronization signal structure based on a repeated sequence in the time domain may facilitate searching for different beams in a timely manner. In some cases, the repeated synchronization signal structure may be achieved by using a larger tone spacing, and hence having shorter symbol duration and repeating the short symbols in the time domain. The repeated structure may be further used to encode additional information (e.g., facilitated by the resulting additional degrees of freedom). Additionally or alternatively, a synchronization signal (e.g.

  • Patent number: 11039469
Abstract: To synchronize an apparatus during wireless communication, an apparatus may transmit a Random Access Channel (RACH) preamble sequence to a base station. However, care must be taken to prevent the RACH preamble sequence from causing inadequate levels of interference in other uplink resources. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be configured to determine, based on a RACH subcarrier spacing and a data tone subcarrier spacing, a number of RACH tones allocated for a transmission of a RACH preamble sequence. In this manner, the apparatus may ensure that adequate uplink resources are allocated to prevent interference.

  • Patent number: 11032823
Abstract: In a process of beam change, the base station transmits a beam change instruction to a user equipment to confirm a change from a current beam to another beam. The base station determines to change from a first beam to a second beam. The base station generates a beam change instruction to indicate the determination to change from the first beam to the second beam. The base station transmits, to a UE, the beam change instruction in a downlink control information (DCI). The base station determines whether or not the beam change instruction is detected by the UE.

  • Publication number: 20210168750
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining round trip time (RTT) includes a second node, which receives a first signal from a first node at a first time, determines a timing advance based on a first estimated channel response for the first signal, and transmits at a second time, a second signal to the first node, wherein the second time occurs after the first time by an amount of a pre-specified delay for RTT estimation minus the timing advance. The first node transmits the first signal to the second node at an initial time, receives the second signal from the second node, and determines a timing statistic from a second estimated channel response for the second signal, the timing statistic estimated at a third time. The first node determines the RTT as the third time minus the initial time minus the pre-specified delay for RTT estimation.

  • Publication number: 20210167940
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Synchronization signals may be transmitted using a set of phase offsets over different component carriers or using a single component carrier for each antenna port. For example, a base station may identify a set of synchronization signals (e.g., a set of primary synchronization signals (PSSs)) to be transmitted over one or multiple component carriers. In some cases, each PSS may be associated with a different component carrier, and the base station may apply a different phase offset to each PSS when transmitting the set of PSSs on the component carriers. In some examples, the base station may transmit the PSSs on the component carriers using a different antenna port for each component carrier.
