  • Patent number: 6097827
Abstract: An adjustable earphone with a microphone has a hook, a speaker, and a microphone, in which the hook is used for comfortably mounting the earphone on a user's ear. The speaker is mounted in a speaker chamber that connects to the hook by an outrigger wherein the speaker can be firmly fixed on the user's exterior acoustic meatus. The microphone is mounted in a microphone chamber that connects to the hook by a boom, and the microphone chamber can be fixed near the user's mouth. A speaker signal-wire used for transmitting the signal extends from the speaker chamber, passes through the hook, and then couples to the audio signal manager. A microphone signal-wire used for transmitting the signals extends from the microphone chamber, passes by the boom, and then couples to the audio signal manager.

  • Patent number: 6069964
Abstract: The main components of an earphone-microphone-earmuff assembly are an earphone, a microphone and an earmuff. Besides using the assembly as a whole, each component can be independently used as well. The assembly has several pairs including a mounting cap, an earphone, an earmuff, and each part has its own mounting structure or structures for interconnection. In operation, the mounting cap and the earphone can be assembled together just for listening. Alternatively, the mounting cap and the earmuff can be assembled together just for ear warming or noise shielding. However, the mounting cap, the earmuff and the earphone can all be put together for hearing, ear warming and noise shielding. Furthermore, a microphone can also be installed on the earphone for easy communication.

  • Patent number: 6047076
Abstract: An earphone-microphone set that has a pair of adjustable ear braces. The earphone-microphone set includes an earphone housing for enclosing the earphone. There is a shallow groove around the outer edge of the housing and a cable latch positioned vertically at each end of the groove. A hole is also drilled beside each of the cable latch. A microphone capable of rotating is attached to the earphone housing. One end of a signal transmission cable is connected to the earphone. The cable comes out from the edge of the earphone housing around its mid-section. The other end of the cable is connected to a plug. An upper ear-brace-adjusting pin and a lower ear-brace-adjusting pin are inserted into the respective upper circular hole and the lower circular hole beside the cable latches. The upper and the lower ear-brace-adjusting pin also passes through an upper ear brace and a lower ear brace so that each ear brace can slide up or down independently.

  • Patent number: 5984224
Abstract: A cable-spooling casing is suitable for completely or partially spooling transmission cables of earphone for easy carriage. The cable-spooling casing includes a first spooling guide having a first protuberance on its interior surface and a plurality of slots around its perimeter. There is also a second spooling guide having a second protuberance on its interior surface, such that when the first protuberance of the first spooling guide is joined to the second protuberance of the second spooling guide, a groove for spooling cable is formed in the middle. There is at least one clip on the exterior surface of the first cable-spooling guide for fixing the earphone transmission cable in place and at least one back clamp on the exterior surface of the second cable-spooling guide for clamping the cable-spooling casing onto any item worn by a user.

  • Patent number: 5927659
Abstract: An in-cord detachable ear hanger for an in-ear phone is provided. The ear hanger can protect the in-ear phone from being pulled off position from the user's ear when the user or any nearby person accidentally pulls the cable connected to the earphone set in a jerked manner. The ear hanger includes a shank body, a substantially hook-like portion, and a cable grasping means in substantially anchor-like shape. The hook-like portion is shaped in such a manner as to snugly fit to the back of a user's ear. The cable grasping means can grasp a selected portion of the cable, by which a margin length of the cable is left between the ear hanger and the speaker element inserted in the user's ear. During use of the in-ear phone, when any part of the cable other than the margin length is pulled in a jerked manner, the ear hanger would be pulled off the ear, but in most of the cases the speaker element would still stay in position in the user's ear.

  • Patent number: 5850439
Abstract: A portable hands-free telephone converter that allows a user to speak on the telephone without using the hands to hold a handset or the like. The telephone converter includes a first coupler for coupling the telephone converter to the receiver of the handset, a second coupler for coupling the telephone converter to the transmitter of the handset, a converter, coupled via the first coupling means and the second coupling means to the handset, for receiving the incoming voice from the receiver and outputting the user's voice to the transmitter, and a controller, coupled to the converter, for amplifying the user's voice signal and for amplifying the incoming voice signal received by the converter from the handset receiver.

  • Patent number: 5729615
Abstract: An in-ear type earphone according to the present invention includes an in-ear type speaker element and a cable disposed externally of the earphone. The cable is coupled at one end to the speaker element such that the cable hangs freely from the speaker element. The opposite end of the cable is coupled to a plug. The plug operatively connects the earphone to a sound signal source. A sliding round shaft is rotatably mounted at one end of the speaker element. A sliding sleeve receives an opposite end of the sliding round shaft and allows it to move along a longitudinal axis. The earphone also has an ear hanger with a helix stopper end, a curved hook section, and a lobule stopper end integrally formed and contoured to the general shape of a human ear. The helix stopper end is mounted to the sliding sleeve in a fixed manner.

  • Patent number: 4897033
Abstract: A lighter provided with a cigarette extinguisher which is capable of cutting and extinguishing a burning head of a cigarette safely. The cigarette extinguisher comprises an upper cut element, a torsion spring, a tongue, a lower cut element and a pivot pin. The pivot pin pivotally connects the upper cut element and the lower cut element to facilitate the relative pivotal movement of the upper cut element and the lower cut element, the relative pivotal movement affects the cutting-off of a cigarette head which is inserted into the space between the upper cut element and the lower cut element.

  • Patent number: 4894641
Abstract: A real-time speed display apparatus for displaying vehicle speed with different colors of light has a speed detector for detecting the speed of revolution of the transmission shaft of a vehicle and outputting a speed signal with its pulse rate varied as a function of the revolution speed. The speed signal is converted into a periodic signal through a timing gate under the control of a clock signal generated by a clock generator. A counter is used to count the number of the pulses within each period of the interval signal, based on which an encoder outputs a corresponding display control signal and transmits it to respective display drivers. Upon receipt of the display control signal, the drivers are started to drive the respective light units. Therefore, different color light is formed on a screen by combination of light emitted by the driven light units.
