    Abstract: The present invention provides a new synchronization method named Multi-Node Echo Method (MNEM), which settles the problem of clock/data synchronization with asymmetrical channels. In MNEM, the echo messages are relayed among multi-node loop both by clockwise and anti-clockwise. Based on Multi-Node Echo Method, the invention further provides a method to detect symmetrical status of a communication network, a method to detect asymmetrical status of any channel in a communication network, and a method to calculate the sending and receiving delay values of any channel in a communication network, even when the channel is asymmetrical.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a fast power swing unblocking method and apparatus for a distance protection in a power system, which is able to ensure fast phase-segregated tripping of distance protection for faults during a power swing (3-phase or 2-phase swing). The power swing unblocking method in a power system according to the present invention comprises calculating changing rates of impedances for all operating loops of the distance protection in the power system; and determining a fault loop based on the calculated changing rates. If there is a fault loop, a blocked distance zone for the fault loop is unblocked. Before calculating the changing rates, whether the power system is under a power swing is checked and a distance zone that might mal-operate under the power swing is blocked if it is checked that the power system is under the power swing.

Also provided are small molecule selective aromatase inhibitors having a molecular weight of less 500 g/mol. In some embodiments, the small molecule selective aromatase inhibitors described herein have a molecular weight of less than 450 g/mol. Also provided are methods for suppressing aromatase activity expression in cancer cells comprising the step of administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of a small molecule aromatase inhibitor to a subject in need of such treatment. In one embodiment, the cancer cells are breast cancer cells.

New AIs derived from natural products are disclosed that are evaluated for clinical utility for treating post-menopausal breast cancer and may also act as chemopreventive agents for preventing breast cancer. Several pure compounds demonstrated AI activity using a noncellular, enzyme-based microsomal and a cell-based aromatase assay. Correlations are made between structural classes with levels of aromatase inhibition. The disclosure may be utilized to direct synthetic modification of natural product scaffolds to enhance aromatase inhibition or to standardize botanical dietary supplements for increased aromatase inhibition activity.
