  • Publication number: 20170116330
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for identifying suggestions as to which log files associated with data in a data warehouse to search for particular data. Features from the contents of a plurality of log files from a set of log files are selected. The plurality of log files are grouped based on the selected features. Using extracted log event sequences, a correlation between the log event sequences and a plurality of data transaction tables from a set of data transaction tables in the data warehouse is calculated. • Publication number: 20160321683
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for predicting and reducing product return. For a historical regular product purchase associated with a current product purchase by a customer, a distribution of a number of product purchases and a distribution of a number of product returns is generated. A determination is made of a probability of return of the current product as a function of the number of product purchases, the number of product returns, a distance, and a browsing time. Responsive to the identified probability of return being greater than a predetermined threshold, the identified probability of return is used to reduce the probability of return of the product through one or more interactions with the product.

  • Patent number: 9323013
Abstract: In a bidirectional optical communications module, an optics system is provided having a lens block that uses a single surface for reflecting light into or reflecting light passing out of the end of the optical fiber and a single surface for reflecting light toward a monitor photodetector. No other surfaces in the lens block are used to turn the light path. A filter block of the optics system that is adjacent to the lens block performs wavelength multiplexing and demultiplexing. The filter block reflects light at either its lower or upper surface back toward the lens block. In some embodiments, a portion of light passes through the upper surface of the filter block to provide some attenuation of light being transmitted so that the light is not coupled back into the light source. Because the upper surface of the filter block is the topmost surface of the optics system, the optics system can be very compact while also limiting the number of surfaces that turn the light path.

  • Patent number: 9151914
Abstract: An optical communication system includes a transceiver with a light source, a transition lens and an optical medium. Each of the light source, the transition lens and the optical medium define a corresponding axis. The light source defines a normal launch axis. The transition lens defines an optical axis. The optical medium defines a longitudinal axis. A relative misalignment from a coaxial alignment of the corresponding axes of at least one the light source, the transition lens and the optical medium is used to reduce a back reflection incident at the light source. Such misalignments can be achieved by one or both of angular adjustments and offsets of the axes.

  • Patent number: 9106338
Abstract: A bidirectional optical communication system includes first and second transceivers arranged at opposed ends of an optical medium. Opto-electronic devices within the transceivers are arranged on respective mounting surfaces of planar substrates. First and second optical assemblies couple the respective transceivers to the optical medium. The optical assemblies include first and second optical elements arranged along an axis normal to the substrates. The first optical element is transparent to the optical signal transmitted from the respective transceiver and redirects the received optical signal from the other transceiver. The optical assemblies enable a single alignment of the opto-electronic devices and the optical medium.

  • Publication number: 20150030281
Abstract: Protection features are incorporated into an optical communications module to ensure that the optics system of the module will not be damaged or moved out of alignment by external forces exerted on a mating surface of the module when a connector module is mated with the optical communications module. One protection feature is a strike plate that is disposed on the mating surface of the module that redistributes forces exerted on the mating surface. Another protection feature is an optically-transmissive window formed in the mating surface and comprising an optically-transmissive element having anti-reflection (AR) coatings disposed on its upper and lower surfaces. The optics system is positioned beneath the mating surface so that forces that are exerted on the mating surface are not transferred to the optics system. Another protection feature is a design of the module that mechanically decouples the optics system from the mating surface.

  • Publication number: 20140355934
Abstract: An optics system for use with a parallel optical communications module is provided that includes a support structure for supporting the ends of the optical fibers in a way that ensures that the ends of the optical fibers are maintained in precise optical alignment with respective optical coupling elements of the optics system. The support structure makes it virtually impossible for there to be any misalignment between the ends of the optical fibers and the respective optical coupling elements of the optics system to prevent misalignment problems from occurring. In addition, the optics system is configured in such a way that the likelihood that the ends of the optical fibers will be damaged as they are inserted into the optics system is very small.
