  • Publication number: 20230137418
Abstract: The designs and methods disclosed herein are for a clot retrieval catheter with a large bore shaft and a distal braid-supported tip that is expandable to a diameter larger than the outer sheath through which it is delivered. The shaft can have a plurality of supporting braids fixed distally to a radiopaque marker band. The tip can have another plurality of supporting braids fixed proximally to the marker band and a decreasing braid angle distally so that the tip can be heat set to an expanded funnel shape. The wires of the tip braids can follow one spiral direction distally and then invert proximally back on themselves to form the other spiral direction of the braid. This inversion of the wires results in atraumatic distal hoops at the distal termination of the braid. Designs can further have spines capable of resisting elongation of the catheter shaft during a procedure.

  • Publication number: 20230140794
Abstract: The designs and methods disclosed herein are for a clot retrieval catheter with a large bore shaft and a distal braid-supported tip that is expandable. A distal expansile section of the braid-supported tip can have a delivery inner diameter approximately equal to the inner diameter of the shaft. The braid of the tip can have a decreasing braid angle distally so that the tip can expand to a larger expanded inner diameter when impinged radially by an ingested clot to manage the clot and prevent shearing of clot fragments.

  • Patent number: 11628282
Abstract: A system has a balloon guide catheter for use in mechanical thrombectomy procedures which requires very little preparation to inflate the balloon compared to most contemporary designs. The balloon guide catheter can have an elongated tubular member and a proximal luer. The elongated tubular member of the catheter can have two internal lumens. A first inner hollow lumen can have a large opening for aspiration and the advancement of auxiliary devices, and a second inflation lumen can provide a fluidic passageway to inflate the balloon. The proximal luer can have a luer lumen, an inflation port, and a mandrel hub. A removable mandrel can extend distally from the mandrel hub to occupy the full length and volume of the inflation lumen of the tubular member. A tab of the mandrel can extend external to the luer to facilitate removal of the mandrel from the catheter prior to inflating the balloon.

  • Publication number: 20230095102
Abstract: The designs and methods disclosed herein are for a clot retrieval catheter that can have a proximal elongate body with a large bore lumen and a distal tip expandable to a diameter larger than the outer sheath through which it is delivered. The distal tip can have a flexible metallic support frame to provide radial scaffolding and the ability for further flexible expansion when ingesting a clot. The support frame can be designed so that the expanding movement is focused in a portion of the circumference though a plurality of deformable cells that can collapse to be almost flat and parallel to the longitudinal axis for deliverability, but expand to a very steep angle for good resistance to collapse under aspiration. The designs can be sufficiently flexible to navigate tortuous anatomy but recover to maintain the inner diameter of the lumen when displaced in a vessel.

  • Publication number: 20230033555
Abstract: Devices described herein include a stentriever for removing an occlusive clot. The stentriever can include a membrane cover on the proximal end which can be sized to form a seal with the tip of an intermediate catheter. Clot engagement sections and/or a distal engagement section of the stentriever can also include a full or partial membrane covering to control the direction of aspiration and/or areas where the aspiration applies suction to the thrombus or clot. The membranes can be used to direct the aspiration so as to pull the clot deeper into the clot engagement sections of the stentriever, thereby improving grip on the clot. The design can also increase the effectiveness of clot fragment protection for friable clots by providing pores and/or clot cells in a distal engagement section.

  • Publication number: 20230013548
Abstract: A clot capture catheter having an outer inflatable expansile member and an inner inflatable expansile member positioned within the outer inflatable expansile member at a distal end of a shaft of the catheter is presented herein. The inner and outer inflatable expansile members can have differing compliance than each other. Inflation of a higher compliance inner inflatable expansile member can cause a lower compliance outer inflatable expansile member to shorten and provide tension to the distal end of the shaft to case the distal end to open to a funnel shape. Inflation of a lower compliance inner inflatable expansile member can center the distal end of the shaft within a vessel, and inflation of a higher compliance outer inflatable member can provide atraumatic flow arrest to the vessel.
