  • Patent number: 7708638
Abstract: A method for detecting potential money-laundering activities or other illegal activities in the use of a gaming accounting system includes collecting data regarding a player's activity in a gaming system. The gaming system activity data is collected in terms of a gaming activity network, that is, a series of linked activities or events, and/or objects associated with activities or events. In response to a predefined event such as a cash out or credit redemption transaction request initiated by the player, the method includes evaluating the collected data to identify potentially illegal or prohibited activity. In the event illegal activity is indicated, the method includes taking some corrective action such as producing an operator alert to the potential illegal activity.

  • Publication number: 20090132521
Abstract: A role tree having nodes corresponding to semantic roles in a hierarchy is defined. A posting list is generated for each association of a term and a semantic role in the hierarchy. The posting lists are stored contiguously on a physical storage medium such that a subtree of the hierarchy of semantic roles can be loaded from the storage medium as a single contiguous block. The posting lists for a subtree of the hierarchy are retrieved by obtaining data identifying the beginning location on the physical storage medium of the posting lists for the term at the top of a desired subtree of the hierarchy and data identifying the length of the posting lists of the desired subtree of the hierarchy. A single contiguous block that includes the posting lists for the desired subtree of the hierarchy is then retrieved from the beginning location through the specified length.

  • Publication number: 20090070322
Abstract: Computer-readable media and computer systems for conducting semantic processes to facilitate navigation of search results that include sets of tuples representing facts associated with content of documents in response to queries for information. Content of documents is accessed and semantic structures are derived by distilling linguistic representations from the content. Groups of two or more related words, called tuples, are extracted from the documents or the semantic structures. Tuples can be stored at a tuple index. Representations of the relational tuples are displayed in addition to documents retrieved in response to a query.

  • Publication number: 20090063472
Abstract: Computer-readable media, computerized methods, and computer systems for conducting semantic processes to present search results that include highlighted regions which are relevant to a conceptual meaning of a query are provided. Initially, content of document(s) is accessed and semantic representations are derived by distilling linguistic representations from the content. These semantic representations may be stored at a semantic index. Also, a proposition is derived from the query by parsing search terms of the query, and distilling the proposition from the search terms. Typically, the proposition is a logical representation of the conceptual meaning of the query. The proposition is compared against the semantic representations at the semantic index to identify a matching set. Regions of the content within the document, from which the matching set of semantic representations are derived, are targeted.

  • Patent number: 7496487
Abstract: A computer-implemented building design and modeling system, method, and computer program product are provided. In one example, the computer program product includes computer executable instructions for processing by a computer system. The instructions include instructions for creating instances of parametric objects in a spatial database, where each of the parametric objects represents a construction component of a structure to be modeled and includes a user interface for enabling a user to input design data for the parametric object. The instructions also include instructions for initiating assembly of the parametric objects to create a partial building model. The parametric objects include ordinary elements and massing elements, the massing elements being capable of placing instances of other objects into the spatial database and subsequently passing data to and receiving data from the placed objects.

  • Patent number: 7409679
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and methods for analyzing dependencies. The dependencies that may be analyzed include, for example, dependencies among methods or procedures in software source code, or in system configuration or deployment. A layered system is provided, comprising a back-end layer, abstraction layer and user interface layer are used to derive dependency information from third-party tools, and present the information through uniform interfaces to a user-interface layer. The system maintains a dependency model as a hierarchical graph structure in computer memory, and provides a plurality of user views which may be manipulated actively or passively by the user. Active manipulations are propogated through the back-end layer to modify the system analyzed, and passive manipulations affect the user views without changing the analyzed system. The system provides advantages to users seeking to understand complex systems with many dependencies.

  • Publication number: 20080102944
Abstract: A processing device measures the time it takes for a player to take some action in a game and bases the award or result in the game for the player at least in part on that measured time. A player receives a more desirable result or outcome for a particular game play in response to a shorter player action time and/or receives a less desirable result or outcome for a particular game play in response to a longer player action time. Providing more desirable results for shorter player action times or less desirable results for longer player action times provides players an incentive that influences them to take the appropriate player actions more quickly.
