  • Patent number: 5840443
Abstract: Advanced batteries having a long cycle lifetime are provided. More specifically, the present invention relates to electrodes made from redox polymer films and batteries in which either the positive electrode, the negative electrode, or both, comprise redox polymers. Suitable redox polymers for this purpose include pyridyl or polypyridyl complexes of transition metals like iron, ruthenium, osmium, chromium, tungsten and nickel; porphyrins (either free base or metallo derivatives); phthalocyanines (either free base or metallo derivatives); metal complexes of cyclams, such as tetraazacyclotetradecane; metal complexes of crown ethers and metallocenes such as ferrocene, cobaltocene and ruthenocene.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 24, 1998
    Assignee: Midwest Research Institute
Inventors: Brian A. Gregg, A. Michael Taylor
  • Patent number: 5320725
Abstract: An amperometric biosensor and method for the detection of hydrogen peroxide, NADH, or NADPH with high sensitivity includes an electrode having on its testing surface a three-dimensional redox polymer network in which peroxidase is immobilized.

  • Patent number: 5262035
Abstract: Enzyme electrodes having a surface coated with a film. The film is formed from materials in which a redox enzyme is covalently bonded to a three dimensional molecular structure. The molecular structure is of the class having multiple redox centers, for example, a crosslinked redox polymer.
