Abstract: A system for presenting informational content to a person using a mobile device includes: a wireless transmitter that transmits a transmission containing a broadcast; and a mobile device configured to receive the transmission from the wireless transmitter when the mobile device is within a transmission range of the transmitter. In this respect, the transmitter unilaterally transmits the transmission without regard to whether the mobile device actually is within the transmission range of the transmitter. Additionally, the broadcast contained within the transmission includes both informational content for presentation to a person and broadcast-identifying information. Moreover, the mobile device is configured to store therein the informational content for presentation to a person using the mobile device, wherein the informational content is stored in association with the broadcast-identifying information.

Abstract: A method for presenting audio content to a person using a mobile device that is within transmission range of the wireless transmitters includes the steps of: receiving with the mobile device a plurality of transmissions from the wireless transmitters, wherein each transmission includes a broadcast including audio content for presentation to a person using the mobile device; scanning each respective broadcast for preselected audio content; and presenting to a person using the mobile device a list representative of the audio content of those broadcasts found in scanning to match the preselected audio content.

Abstract: A method of receiving and storing within a mobile device certain broadcasts to the exclusion of other broadcasts includes the steps of: storing a preferences profile from a person using the mobile device, wherein the preferences profile represents the types of informational content with which the person using the mobile device desires to be presented; receiving a plurality of broadcasts, wherein each broadcast includes both informational content for presentation to a person and broadcast-identifying information; and for each respective broadcast that is received, screening the broadcast against the received preferences profile to determine whether the respective informational content of the respective broadcast is to be stored within the mobile device

Abstract: A system is described for managing presence information comprising: a plurality of data processing devices capable of supporting communication over a plurality of different communication channels; a presence management module to manage presence information associated with a first user of the plurality of users, the presence management module to automatically provide the presence information to one or more other users, the presence information including an indication of one or more preferred communication channels for contacting the first user of the plurality of users; and a multi-mode communication module to generate a communication interface on data processing devices of the one or more other users, the communication interface containing a selectable list of the one or more preferred communication channels.

Abstract: An electrical receptacle has at least one side wall defining a receptacle interior, wherein the side wall includes an edge defining a receptacle opening and further includes at least one raised protrusion formed thereon and an aperture formed therein as a result of forming the protrusion. The protrusion has a banking surface substantially parallel with the opening edge for positioning the receptacle and the protrusion substantially occludes access to the receptacle interior through the aperture of the side wall.

Abstract: A steering column slider shaft assembly includes a shaft and yoke assembly having yoke at a first end and an attached non-cylindrical shaft extending therefrom to a second end. The second end is engaged with a non-cylindrical tube which forms a second end of a tube and yoke assembly, the tube being congruent with and adapted to slidably receive the shaft and provide a slip fit therefor. The shaft and yoke assembly and the tube and yoke assembly each have interengaging provisions which are over-molded or otherwise attached, for sealing the slider shaft assembly. The interengaging provisions also serve to limit extension of the slider assembly to resist inadvertent separation of the slider shaft assembly during assembly of the steering column.

Abstract: A carrier rack and rack retainer for use with a pickup truck includes a rack having an assemblable set of at least two rack segments each having a transverse bridge and two columnar bridge support struts, each strut having offset, i.e. parallel but non-collinear, upper end and lower end portions. The upper end portion of each strut mates with a discrete end of the bridge of a discrete rack segment in at least two discrete rotated positions of the strut about the longitudinal axis of the upper end portion of the strut, thereby providing a rack segment with selectable spacing between the lower end portions of the struts. The rack retainer provides at least two pairs of columnar pillars mountable adjacent side walls of the pickup truck cargo area. The spacing between the lower end portions of the struts of each assembled rack segment may be selected to be approximately equal to the spacing between the pillars of a discrete pair of mounted pillars.
