Abstract: Thermoplastic forming tools and assemblages are provided for forming thermoplastic components. In particular, thermoplastic forming tools and assemblages are provided for forming thermoplastic components having precision micro-scale features and reproducible macro-scale dimensions. The thermoplastic forming assemblages can include at least a bottom tool and a top tool having a rigid tool body and an elastomer layer conformally coating at least a portion of both rigid tool bodies. The bottom and top tool can be so dimensioned that, when in the closed position, they define a cavity forming the thermoplastic component. The rigid tool bodies provide the reproducible macro-scale dimensions in the thermoplastic component, while the elastomer layers form and release the precision micro-scale features in the thermoplastic component when formed.

Abstract: A method of transmitting data in a telecommunications system comprising a terminal transmitting a first random access request message to the base station in accordance with the first random access procedure for transmitting the data to the base station, the first random access request message comprising at least part of the data and a first preamble; and upon determination that the use of the first random access procedure has been unsuccessful, the terminal transmitting a second random access request message to the base station in accordance with the second random access procedure for transmitting the data to the base station, the second random access request message comprising a second preamble.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to calibrating multi-view triangulation systems that perceive surfaces and objects based on reflections of one or more scanned laser beams that are continuously sensed by two or more sensors. In addition to sampling and triangulating points from a spline formed by an unbroken line trajectory of a laser beam, the calibration system samples and triangulates a corresponding velocity vector. Iterative reduction is performed on velocity vectors instead of points or splines. The velocity vector includes directions and magnitudes along a trajectory of a scanning laser beam which are used to determine the actual velocities. Translation and rotation vectors are based on the velocity vectors for matching trajectories determined for two or more sensors having offset physical positions, which are used to calibrate sensor offset errors associated with the matching trajectories provided to a modeling engine.

Abstract: A method for use in a wireless telecommunications network comprising: a core network; base stations; and a terminal device configured to communicate wirelessly with the base stations including by the use of a split radio bearer receivable at the secondary base station for splitting between the secondary base station and the master base station before delivery to the terminal device; the method comprising: when the secondary base station exhausts a supply of unique parameter sets used in security ciphering of received split radio bearers, the secondary base station sends a notification to the master base station of a requirement to alter data handling resources allocated for handling split radio bearers received from the secondary base station in one or both of the master base station and the terminal device; and the master base station, in response to the notification, operating to effect an alteration in the said data handling resources.

One embodiment includes disposing a base layer of a device material on a surface of a substrate. One or more mandrels of the device material are disposed on the base layer. The disposing the one or more mandrels includes positioning a mask over of the base layer. The device material is deposited with the mask positioned over the base layer to form an optical device having the base layer with a base layer depth and the one or more mandrels having a first mandrel depth and a second mandrel depth.

Abstract: An infrastructure equipment that transmits a radio network identifier to a communications device for identifying the communications device when allocating communications resources of the wireless access interface for transmitting downlink data to the communications device. After the communications device has entered an inactive connected state, the infrastructure equipment transmits control signals including the radio network identifier for allocating communications resources of the wireless access interface for the communications device to receive downlink data, determine whether the communications device is still within a radio coverage area of the infrastructure equipment, and if the communications device has left the coverage area, transmit an indication to the one or more other infrastructure equipment via the inter-connecting interface to trigger a process for transmitting downlink data to the communications device from the one or more other infrastructure equipment.

In one or more embodiments, a method for encapsulating an optical device includes depositing a metallic silver layer on a substrate, depositing a barrier layer on the metallic silver layer, where the barrier layer contains silicon nitride, a metallic element, a metal nitride, or any combination thereof, and depositing an encapsulation layer containing silicon oxide on the barrier layer.

Abstract: Schemes for supporting device-to-device, D2D, communications between terminal devices in a wireless telecommunication system. A network entity, e.g. a base station, establishes a set pool of radio resources to be reserved for use for D2D communications and communicates an indication of these resources to terminal devices. On an ongoing basis the network entity monitors the extent to which the set of radio resources reserved for D2D communications is being used, for example based on feedback received from terminal devices or its own measurements. If it is determined the set of radio resources reserved for D2D communications is being under-utilized or over-utilized, the network entity may establish an updated set of radio resources to be used for D2D communications, and communicate this to the terminal devices. Thus a mechanism is provided for dynamically adjusting the size of a set of resources available for D2D communications in response to changing resource utilization.

Abstract: A fan brake system for controlling an industrial fan system, the fan brake system including a fan brake having a brake pad movable on the fan brake to selectively engage the fan system. An actuator including a motor can be operable to cause the fan brake to perform a braking procedure on the fan system to resist rotational movement of the fan system. A controller can be communicated with the actuator, the controller operable to selectively cause the actuator and the fan brake to perform the braking procedure, wherein the controller is operable to monitor and control power being supplied to the motor of the actuator during the braking procedure to maintain a torque output of the motor according to a predetermined torque profile during the braking procedure.

The chair includes a seat and leg assembly both coupled to a seat post. The seat is pivotable from a use configuration to a tilted or stowed configuration that occupies less floor space. Abstract: A content server can function as the master record keeper even if a file or folder that it manages in an enterprise computing environment is shared externally, for instance, through a cloud system. To mitigate network security risks, the content server polls, from behind a firewall, an event service of the cloud system. The event service, in response, can communicate events indicating changes to the shared content to the content server. The content server can interpret the events and determine whether to take any appropriate action, for example, updating an audit log to include an event and/or updating the managed content to reflect the changes. Likewise, the content server can communicate any change to the managed content to the cloud system through the event service. In this way, the managed content in the enterprise computing environment and the shared content in the cloud system are bidirectionally synced.
