  • Publication number: 20150324454
Abstract: A user interface of an entity-centric knowledge discovery system presents an entity profile including a mix of structured and unstructured data relating to an entity. As a user refines the entity profile based on information gathered from various sources, the changing entity profile can be used as a substantially continuously updating query to search, retrieve, and rank new and pertinent information specifically relevant to the profiled entity. The platform described herein provide an active loop for refining an entity description and searching for additional information in which human input and machine-based algorithms can cooperate to more quickly build a comprehensive description of an entity of interest.

  • Publication number: 20150299964
Abstract: A floor cleaning system and method for use thereof is disclosed for facilitating removal of waste materials. The system includes and the method relies upon use of a floor base, a floor covering, a substrate spacing the floor base and the artificial grass surfacing apart from one another, and at least one fluid-carrying structure. The floor base receives the waste materials. The floor covering is spaced above the floor base, and is at least in part permeable to the waste materials and in liquid communication with the floor base. The fluid-carrying structure is adapted to provide cleaning fluid to the floor base to rinse the waste materials received thereon. The cleaning fluid and waste materials flow along the floor base under the floor covering to facilitate evacuation thereof.

  • Patent number: 9141666
Abstract: A database management system that manages data in a database includes a query optimizer that performs query optimization based on statistics related to data in the database. The query optimizer incrementally updates the statistics. The query optimizer organizes the statistics related to the data in the database into a statistics tree structure having a root node corresponding to global statistics, internal nodes corresponding to summary statistics of descendant nodes, and leaf nodes corresponding to disjoint data ranges in the database. The query optimizer performs statistics tree transformation operations on the statistics tree structure. The transformation operations transform the statistics tree structure into a form that at least partially minimizes the system resources needed to update the statistics. The query optimizer updates the statistics corresponding to those nodes of the statistics tree structure where a change has occurred in the disjoint data ranges.

  • Publication number: 20150235790
Abstract: An insulated switchgear module is disclosed. In one example, the module comprises a vacuum interrupter, current exchange assembly, and end conductors disposed within an insulated housing. The insulated housing further comprises a tank containing an actuator mechanism for actuating the current exchange assembly. An insulating tray within the housing separates the vacuum interrupter from the components in the tank. The insulated tray has a shape that corresponds with the shape of the vacuum interrupter and the shape of the housing.

  • Patent number: 9108646
Abstract: A power system housed in one or more modules or containers may be located as a unitary structure where desired, for example secured to a locomotive platform, allowing easy retrofits. A control subsystem may maintain an RPM of a prime mover at minimum that still provides an expected level of power from an electric machine for any one of a finite number of throttle settings. The control subsystem may dynamically adjust loads between various combinations of series and/or parallel couplings. A set of processor executable instructions may be configured for specific platforms by selecting appropriate set of values based on number of loads (e.g., driven axles), rating (e.g., horse power), other criteria (e.g., manufacturer, model, year). Characteristics may be determined and verified, and operation based on the outcome of such. A telematics system method logs and provides remote access to operational data, engine data, power system data, anti-idling overrides, unauthorized changes, and/or location.

  • Publication number: 20150225981
Abstract: A lock cylinder generally including a shell, a plug positioned within the shell, a locking member, and a leaf spring. The plug includes an opening which is aligned with a recess formed in the shell. The locking member is configured to selectively prevent rotation of the plug with respect to the shell. The leaf spring is positioned in the opening and includes a first portion extending radially inward toward the keyway, and a second portion extending radially outward toward the recess. When a key is inserted, a tip of the second portion extends into the recess. When the plug is subsequently rotated, a tapered surface of the recess urges the tip radially inward and into contact with an inner surface of the shell.

  • Patent number: 8996425
Abstract: Systems and associated processes for guiding users to provide more useful reviews are described. These systems and processes can provide guided reviews in certain embodiments by presenting questions to a user in the form of an interview. The questions can be relevant to the item being reviewed, and as such, may be specifically and dynamically selected based on the particular item under consideration. Many other criteria may be used to select the types of questions presented to users, examples of which will be described below. Presenting review questions to users can have the effect of reducing or eliminating the “blank page” effect of having to write a review from scratch, with no guidance. Accordingly, review questions can potentially elicit more thorough and useful feedback than existing review systems in some embodiments.

  • Patent number: 8938670
Abstract: The invention is to system and methods for automatically identifying the language(s) contained in text. The system comprises two language classifiers, one that classifies the text based on the letters present, and a second classifier that classifies the text based on the words present. Each classifier produces a list of languages and a weight for each language. Each classifier also computes an overall confidence applied to the classifier as a whole. The results of the classifiers are combined together incorporating the classifier confidence and language weights. The combined results produce a list of languages and weights and an overall confidence.
