  • Publication number: 20060224445
Abstract: A price paid for an ad impression may be adjusted using an estimated probability that the ad will be viewed, or otherwise perceived or sensed, or using one or more factors which may be used to estimate such a probability. The price and/or probability may be adjusted using events occurring after the impression of the ad.

  • Publication number: 20060020506
Abstract: Documents or document sets may be scored to reflect a value of an action, such as a selection for example, when an ad is served with the document (or a document belonging to a document set). A number of ads to be served with a document, and/or a type or level of branding to be provided to such ads, may then be controlled using the score. Document scores used in this way may help the ad serving system maintain and manage the quality of its brand. Further, a number of ads to be served, and/or a type or level of branding to be provided to such ads may be controlled using other factors that may affect end user perceptions of the quality of ads.

  • Publication number: 20060004628
Abstract: Documents or document sets may be scored to reflect a value of an action, such as a selection for example, when an ad is served with the document (or a document belonging to a document set). A cost associated with the action with respect to an ad that was served with a document may then be adjusted using the score. For example, ad scores may be accepted or determined, and a document may be scored using the ad scores when served with the document and ad scores across a collection of documents to generate a document score. Each of the ad scores may indicate a value of an action with respect to an ad, such as a conversion rate, or a return on investment for an ad selection for example. Document scores used in this way may help advertisers get a more consistent cost per conversion, or return on investment, without requiring them to enter and manage various offers for various documents and/or various ad serving systems having various conversion rates or returns on investment.

  • Patent number: 6871216
Abstract: Method and systems are described which can be used to track and manage the states of electronic media in a communications network. The electronic medium can be restored, archived, and used to create new electronic media. Moreover, the electronic medium can be superseded and deleted. Additionally, notification processes can be used to prioritize and emphasize certain portions of the electronic medium. Access to the electronic medium may also be blocked or limited to certain recipients of the medium.

  • Publication number: 20050055271
Abstract: A content owner partner (e.g., a Website/Web page publisher) can easily block entire broad or narrow categories of ads, and can specify objectionable ad content or targeting. Concepts may be associated with a property and ads related to those concepts may be blocked for the given property. Further, terms may be associated with a property and ads including any of the terms may be blocked for the given property.

  • Patent number: 6691153
Abstract: A method and system are described that can be used to support a process interaction among a group of participants connected to a network. A participant completes an electronic form specifying the subject matter of the process interaction and a list of network addresses corresponding to other participants in the interaction. A server receives the form and includes resources for delivering an electronic mail message associated with an electronic medium associated with the interaction. When the participant opens the message, the electronic medium is produced by the server that includes static and dynamic regions. The participant can add comments to the interaction or direct the process interaction using an interaction region. The dynamic regions are asynchronously updated in the server and indicate the current content of the electronic medium that can be accessed by other participants.

  • Patent number: 6523063
Abstract: A method and system is described that can be used to reliably, efficiently, and securely transmit information in a communications network. The information can be static or dynamic content. A server is configured with logic to encode and decode a link identifier into, safe character sets that are recognizable to many known web browsers. A redirect process is used to limit the amount of communication with the database. This means that the load and the cost of system operation can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6507865
Abstract: A method and system are described that can be used to support content collaboration among a group of participants connected to a network. A participant creates an electronic form specifying the content and a list of network addresses corresponding to other participants in the content collaboration. A server receives the form and includes resources for delivering an electronic mail message associated with an electronic medium associated with the content collaboration. When the participant opens the message, the electronic medium is produced by the server that includes static and dynamic regions. The participant can modify or change the content. The dynamic regions are asynchronously updated in the server and indicate the current content of the electronic medium that can be accessed by other participants. The content may be binary or textual.

  • Patent number: 6505233
Abstract: A method is described that can be used to communicate information among a group of participants. A participant may create an electronic form specifying a list of network addresses corresponding to other participants intended to receive the communication. A server receives the form and delivers a message associated with an electronic medium. When the participant opens the message, the electronic medium is produced by the server and includes static and dynamic content. The participant can add content to the dynamic content. The dynamic content may be asynchronously dynamically updated in the server to indicate a then current content of the electronic medium, and can be accessed by other to participants in the group.

  • Patent number: 6496849
Abstract: An electronic medium is described that can be used to communicate information among a group of participants. The electronic medium includes a transport envelope having a plurality of network address. An encoding layer may be contained in the transport envelope to support a plurality of content-types. Each of the plurality of content-types may include a plurality of dynamic and static content. An interface region may be configured in the electronic medium to accept input from at least a user of the electronic medium or from an external source in data communication with the electronic medium. The dynamic content may be dynamically asynchronously updated based on the input from at least the user or the external source.

  • Patent number: 6457045
Abstract: A method and system are described that can be used to support making choices, such as in a schedule, invitation, or poll, among a group of participants connected to a network. A participant creates an electronic form specifying the subject matter of a choice topic and a list of network addresses corresponding to other choosing participants. A server receives the form and includes resources for delivering an electronic mail message associated with an electronic medium providing various choices. When the participant opens the message, an electronic medium is produced by the server that includes static and dynamic regions. The participant can input a choice using an interaction region. The dynamic regions are asynchronously updated in the server and indicate the current content of the electronic medium that can be accessed by other participants in the group.
