    Abstract: A system and method for relaying transmissions in wireless communications is provided. A method for combined relay node operation includes determining an operating mode of the combined relay node, where the combined relay node includes a repeater and a relay. The method also includes if the operating mode is repeater on mode, amplifying and forwarding received signals, and storing subframes, where subframes are demodulated and decoded versions of the received signals. The method further includes if the operating mode is repeater off mode, amplifying and forwarding a control zone of signals received while the operating mode is repeater off mode, and transmitting subframes stored while the operating mode is repeater on mode.

    Abstract: A method and system for including a base station that configures a first user equipment (UE) that is in a radio resource control connected state with the base station. The UE is configured to be a synchronization source and transmit a first device-to-device synchronization signal (D2DSS) by using a synchronization resource that comprises a time resource, a frequency resource or a time and frequency resource. The base station instructs the first UE to transmit the first D2DSS using the synchronization resource. The base station signals the UE to configure the UE separately from the signal to transmit the D2DSS, and both of the signals are performed with radio resource control signaling from the base station to the UE.

In one aspect, by acquiring subframe configuration information of a terminal, where the subframe configuration information is used for indicating a first subframe for transmitting common control information and a second subframe for transmitting dedicated control information, the embodiments of the present application enable the common control information to be transmitted to the terminal over the first subframe and/or enable the dedicated control information to be transmitted to the terminal over the second subframe according to the subframe configuration information, thereby achieving downlink control information transmission between the base station and the terminal.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a wireless communication method supporting hybrid automatic repeat request. The method includes: sending first hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process quantity indication information to a user equipment UE; and if second HARQ process quantity indication information is further sent to the UE, determining a second HARQ process quantity according to the second HARQ process quantity indication information, and performing data transmission with the UE according to the determined second HARQ process quantity. Correspondingly, the present invention further provides a base station and the user equipment. In the present invention, the base station and the user equipment can perform data communication with the UE based on different HARQ timing relationships and HARQ process quantities, thereby being capable of better supporting UEs adopting different functional characteristics.

    Abstract: Embodiments are provided herein for determining a synchronizing master for device-to-device (D2D) communication in a cellular network environment. In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) receives a discovery signal comprising a timing reference, and determines a transmitter of the discovery signal. In accordance with the determination of the transmitter of the discovery signal, the UE performs one of synchronizing to the timing reference in the discovery signal and transmitting a second discovery signal. The UE performs the synchronizing to the timing reference if the transmitter of the discovery is a cellular network. Alternatively, the UE transmits the second discovery signal upon determining that the transmitter of the discovery signal is a second UE that is out of coverage of a cellular network.
