  • Patent number: 8868613
Abstract: Systems and methods, including computer software products, for updating data on a remote device involve defining multiple channels on a remote device, where each channel is associated with a predetermined type of content. Content updates for the channels are automatically delivered to the remote device, and an update frequency is identified for each channel. A most frequent update frequency among the multiple channels defined on the remote device is determined, and updates to the channels are requested according to the most frequent update frequency.

  • Patent number: 8214619
Abstract: Systems and methods, including computer software stored on a machine-readable medium for performing operations, can be implemented for allocating memory. Multiple channels are defined on a mobile device. Each channel can be adapted to receive a predetermined type of content for access on the mobile device. An amount of memory allocated to each channel for storing data is defined. Data identifying a new amount of memory allocated to one of the channels is received, and the amount of memory allocated to the channel is adjusted based on the data identifying the new amount of memory.

  • Publication number: 20120046203
Abstract: The invention provides analyzers that improve tests for detecting specific cellular, viral, and molecular targets in clinical, industrial, or environmental samples. The invention permits efficient and specific selection and sensitive imaging detection of individual microscopic targets at low magnification. Automated embodiments allow efficient walk-away, on-demand, random-access high-throughput testing. The analyzers perform tests without requiring wash steps thus streamlining engineering and lowering costs. Thus, the invention provides analyzers that can deliver rapid, accurate, and quantitative, easy-to-use, and cost-effective tests for analytes.

  • Patent number: 8064890
Abstract: A system and method is described for providing data to a mobile information system. A broadcast server receives information preferences from a plurality of subscribers to the mobile information system. The broadcast server aggregates these information preferences and transmits the aggregated information preferences to at least one data source providers. The data source providers then assemble data for the mobile information system using the aggregated information preferences.

  • Publication number: 20070147430
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting data packets in an integrated circuit according to a data integrity scheme that embeds an integrity value in each data packet. As the data packets are transferred, the data integrity value for a data packet is stored during a stall of the transmission of that data packet so that the stored integrity value can be used after the stall has ceased.

  • Patent number: 6189690
Abstract: A display package for point-of-purchase display of an article such as a musical instrument sounded by shaking or rotating. The display package has a first opening for facilitating grasping and manipulation of the package by a consumer. A second opening permits sound to be emitted by the instrument. The second opening may be shaped for allowing appendages of the musical instrument to strike a percussion surface of the musical instrument upon rotation of the package.

  • Patent number: 6059103
Abstract: A display package for point-of-purchase display of an article such as a musical instrument having a percussion surface and a sounding aperture. The package has a top panel and a bottom panel, each of the top and bottom panels having openings, one for allowing consumer access to the percussion surface and the second for permitting emission of sound from the sounding aperture of the instrument. A collar shelf is coupled to the rear panel and disposed in a plane substantially parallel to the top panel for preventing motion of the instrument in any direction having a component tangential to the top panel.

  • Patent number: 5761785
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reliably placing the spring retainer and keys on a valve stem, to lock the valve spring in place. The apparatus includes a linear actuator, having an extended position and a retracted position, and a connector for connecting the linear actuator to a carrying member, such as a robotic arm. A gripper is attached to the linear actuator, adapted to grip the spring retainer. The keys reside in a retainer-key kit, held therein by gravity, and are presented to the gripper in a predetermined position by a positioning device. As the linear actuator is extended from its retracted position to its extended position, the gripper engages the retainer-key kit. The retainer-key kit is then withdrawn from the positioning device by retracting the linear actuator. The gripper and retainer-key kit are then transported to the cylinder head so that the retainer-key kit is substantially positioned for application to the valve stem.
