  • Publication number: 20090202069
Abstract: A method, system on a chip, and computer system for generating more robust keys which utilize data occupying relatively small die areas is disclosed. Embodiments provide a convenient and effective mechanism for generating a key for use in securing data on a portable electronic device, where the key is generated from repurposed data and a relatively small amount. A multi-stage encryption algorithm may be performed to generate the key, where the first stage may include encrypting the secure data, and the second stage may include encrypting the result of a logical operation on the encrypted secure data with a unique identifier of the portable electronic device. A secret key may be used as the encryption key for each stage. The result of the second encryption stage may include the generated key which may be used to perform subsequent operations on the portable electronic device.

  • Patent number: 7567805
Abstract: In a wireless LAN (WLAN) a method and system for dynamically assigning a configuration identity to a device being connected to the WLAN is provided. An access point (AP) or other device is plugged into a switch port of an Ethernet switch, and discovers its location and the location of a WLAN management module. The device can then request its configuration identity from the WLAN management module by providing its switch and/or port location. When a device in the WLAN needs to be replaced, the method and system enable dynamic assignment of configuration identity for the new device, to ensure that the configuration and identity of the new device matches that of the device it is replacing.

  • Patent number: 7418900
Abstract: Creating an artistic work of art on a lawn includes: unfolding and stretching taut a stencil; driving stakes into the lawn, each stake extending through a corner of the stencil; spraying paint over openings in the stencil; removing the stencil while leaving stakes in place; unfolding and stretching taut a second stencil; anchoring the second stencil by extending corners of the second stencil over stakes driven in the ground; spraying paint over openings in the second stencil. An indication of orientation located on the second stencil is oriented in the same position as that of an indication of orientation of the first stencil. Each stencil includes a planar sheet of flexible film and a gate that extends across an opening of the respective stencil and maintains structural integrity of the stencil and distributes tension in the stencil when the stencil is stretched taut.

  • Publication number: 20080140658
Abstract: A method and system and related computer program products are described for identifying an object of service comprising the initial step of generating and storing a static composite identifier representing a state of the object of service. Then, whenever it is desired to identify the object of service, the steps are carried out of: generating a dynamic composite identifier representing a current state of the object of service; locating and retrieving the stored static composite identifier, and searching a database for a match with an object of service recorded therein using either the static or the dynamic composite identifiers, or both.

Abstract: A kit for creating an artistic work on a residential lawn includes: first and second lawn stencils; first and second containers of paint of first and second colors; and a plurality of stakes. The stakes are used to anchor the lawn stencils to the lawn, and the paint is used to apply layers of paint over the lawn stencils, which in turn applies layers of the paint in desired patterns on the lawn. Each lawn stencil includes a pattern of openings therein, which pattern corresponds to one or more design elements of the artwork to be applied to the lawn using the paint. Additional lawn stencils and containers of paint also may be included in this aspect. Proper orientation of each lawn stencil of the kit is insured by proper orientation and alignment of an indication of orientation and alignment locations, which each lawn stencil includes.
