  • Publication number: 20090250020
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for a reciprocating combustion engine. A method includes operating a dual-piston engine including introducing a gas into a pair of combustion chambers; introducing a fuel into the pair of combustion chambers; compressing the gas; combusting the gas and the fuel; and exhausting combusted gases. Each of the pistons drives a reciprocating crankshaft that protrudes through a cylinder wall and cooperatively rotate a pair of rotors by engaging substantially sinusoidal cam tracks on the rotors. An apparatus includes a cam driven, concentric drive rotary-valve dual-piston engine.

  • Publication number: 20080249604
Abstract: Devices and methods for performing a procedure within a spine are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method includes inserting an expandable member into an interior of a bone-related structure. The expandable member defines a first and second lumen. A medium is delivered through the first lumen and into the interior of the expandable member while within the interior of the bone-related structure. A filler material is delivered through the second lumen and into a cavity within the interior of the bone-related structure while the expandable member is disposed therein. An apparatus can include an expandable member that defines a first lumen in fluid communication with an interior volume of the expandable member, and a second lumen in fluid communication with an opening of the expandable member. The second lumen is configured to communicate a filler material through the opening and into an interior cavity of a bone-related structure.

  • Publication number: 20060087643
Abstract: Systems and methods for automated laser microdissection are disclosed. In one variation, targeted biological material is manually or automatically selected and a transfer film is placed in juxtaposition to the location of an interior of a cut path. In another variation, a sample of biological material is mounted onto a polymer membrane which is then placed onto a substrate. Targeted biological material is manually or automatically selected and a transfer film is placed in juxtaposition with the targeted biological material on the side of the biological material. In yet another variation, a sample of biological material is mounted onto a polymer membrane which is then inverted onto a substrate.
