  • Publication number: 20180220833
Abstract: A digital scale for optimizing coffee brewing, and pour-over brewing in particular, is provided. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to a scale configured to determine the target amount of water to add based on any amount of coffee grounds used, compare an actual pour rate to a target pour rate when adding the target amount of water over a specific target pour time, and clearly communicate the same to the user.

  • Patent number: 10016088
Abstract: A cold coffee brewing device is disclosed. A filter basket is provided that can rest at two positions, a first brewing position and a second draining position, the draining position being located above the liquid being brewed to allow the filter basket to drain without further support. The filter basket rests on a first width in the brewing position and on a second width in the draining position. The first and second width can either be formed in to a container for brewing or an adaptor can be provided to create the first and second width on the container. The filter basket has sections that are adapted to rest on the first and second width respectively.

  • Publication number: 20180153334
Abstract: High-altitude protection logic for brewing devices is provided. An actual temperature of a liquid during a heating process is compared to a high-altitude temperature programmed into a controller. If the actual temperature rises to the high-altitude temperature before a default target temperature of the heating process, then one or more time periods may begin to run. If the actual temperature has not changed or the default target temperature has not been reached after a time period elapses, the high-altitude protection logic terminates the heating process. A maximum value of the actual temperature measured during the heating process may replace the programmed default target temperature for subsequent brewings. The new default target temperature may be used to inform and modify a target keep warm temperature for subsequent keep warm mode uses. These stored may be reset to initial program values if the device is disconnected from its power source.

  • Patent number: 9948802
Abstract: A system may include a robotic arm and a Bernoulli cup assembly powered by a vacuum source and coupled to the robotic arm. The Bernoulli cup assembly may lift a document, and the robotic arm may move the Bernoulli cup assembly with the lifted document to a document scanner for imaging the document. The system may further include an input bin, a base supported by a platform and disposed over an imaging surface of the document scanner, and an output bin. A method may include lifting a document from an input bin via suction pressure using a Bernoulli cup assembly, robotically moving the Bernoulli cup assembly with the lifted document to a document scanner, and scanning the document. The method may further include robotically moving the Bernoulli cup assembly with the lifted document away from the document scanner, and de-activating the suction pressure to release the document.

  • Publication number: 20180014695
Abstract: A device for producing nut butter and/or nut milk from nuts. The device may comprise a base having a motor, an outer container positioned above the base, a mixing container positioned within the outer container, and a cutting device positioned within the mixing container and configured to be driven by the motor during operation. The mixing container has inner sidewalls and at least one screen, the inner sidewalls being substantially vertical and the at least one screen having a plurality of holes particularly sized to allow emulsified nut milk to freely pass therethrough. The cutting device may comprise a central hub and at least two blades, the at least two blades vertically offset and each having a blade tip, each blade tip positioned a certain radial distance from the inner sidewalls of the mixing container. A method for producing nut butter and/or nut milk is further described.

  • Patent number: 9577934
Abstract: When transmitting patient data over a hospital network, data types are prioritized into a data type hierarchy (26) that is employed to rank data types in order of criticality for transmission during periods of diminished signal quality. As signal quality decreases, less critical data types are omitted from transmission and stored to a gap data buffer for later transmission. As signal quality recovers, the less critical data types are restored to current data transmissions. Once all data types are restored during current transmission, previously omitted gap data is transmitted to fill in the gaps in a receiving device such as a network server to ensure that a complete data set is provided to the network and/or other devices coupled thereto.

  • Patent number: 9554740
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for predicting patient respiratory stability includes a patient data memory (24) which stores patient data for a patient (12) and an analyzer (34) in communication with the memory computes a measure of patient respiratory stability. The analyzer applies one or more rules to the patient data that are based on a plurality of parameters which in combination, have been identified as being predictive of patient respiratory instability, such as mean airway pressure (MAWP), plateau pressure (PP), arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2 or SpO2), and heart rate (HR). Based on the application of the rules, the analyzer determines the measure of patient respiratory stability.
