  • Patent number: 8584577
Abstract: A beverage maker having a liquid director configured to channel liquid toward a lowermost surface thereof, into and though an opening in the beverage maker, and to a fluid container of the beverage maker. The liquid director can be engaged with a lid of the beverage maker and/or at least one side wall of the container. The lid can be moved between a first position where the lid at least partially covers the opening and a second position where the lid does not cover at least a portion of the opening. The liquid director can be in a deployed, fluid receiving position when the lid is in the first position and can be in an undeployed position when the lid is in the second position.

  • Patent number: 8511220
Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to a beverage maker. The beverage maker may include a brew system, an indicator to indicate at least one of a cleaning and a maintenance need of the beverage maker, and a control circuit. The brew system may include a reservoir to receive a liquid, a heater to heat the liquid, an expendable filter structured to filter impurities from the liquid for at least a predetermined number of brew cycles, and a container for receiving a beverage brewed from the filtered liquid. The control circuit may include a processor configured to receive a signal from at least one sensor indicative of an end of a brew cycle, increment a brew cycle counter by one count at the end of each brew cycle, and activate the indicator when a value of the brew cycle counter is equal to the predetermined number of brew cycles.

  • Patent number: 8397625
Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to a beverage maker. The beverage maker may comprise a brew system, at least one sensor, a display and a control circuit. The brew system may comprise a heater, a reservoir and a container for receiving a brewed beverage. The at least one sensor may be positioned to sense an end of a brew cycle. The control circuit may be configured to receive a signal from the at least one sensor indicative of the end of the brew cycle. Upon detecting the end of the brew cycle, the control circuit may be configured to initiate a timer and cause a current value of the timer to be shown on the display.

  • Publication number: 20110140912
Abstract: Medical monitor readings (150) are displayed along with an indication of along with the age of the reading. The reading display is changed by altering the intensity of the reading value (210-240), color of the reading value (310-330), a subscript next to the reading (400), a shape of the background (600-700), or icon (FIGS. 6-11) to indicate the age of a presented reading.

  • Publication number: 20110125535
Abstract: A bracelet beacon device (10) includes a flexible material strap (16) which encases or is attached to a writable layer (22) carrying human readable patient identification information, a flexible power supply (26), and a flexible circuit layer (24). The flexible circuit layer includes a memory (40) for storing at least patient identification information and a body coupled communication transmitter (42) for transmitting the patient identification information via the patient using a body coupled communication protocol.

  • Publication number: 20110029248
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for predicting patient respiratory stability includes a patient data memory (24) which stores patient data for a patient (12) and an analyzer (34) in communication with the memory computes a measure of patient respiratory stability. The analyzer applies one or more rules to the patient data that are based on a plurality of parameters which in combination, have been identified as being predictive of patient respiratory instability, such as mean airway pressure (MAWP), plateau pressure (PP), arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2 or SpO2), and heart rate (HR). Based on the application of the rules, the analyzer determines the measure of patient respiratory stability.

  • Publication number: 20110002223
Abstract: When transmitting patient data over a hospital network, data types are prioritized into a data type hierarchy (26) that is employed to rank data types in order of criticality for transmission during periods of diminished signal quality. As signal quality decreases, less critical data types are omitted from transmission and stored to a gap data buffer for later transmission. As signal quality recovers, the less critical data types are restored to current data transmissions. Once all data types are restored during current transmission, previously omitted gap data is transmitted to fill in the gaps in a receiving device such as a network server to ensure that a complete data set is provided to the network and/or other devices coupled thereto.
