    Abstract: A light fixture including a mounting assembly for securing the light fixture to a static structure. The mounting assembly includes a gripper attachable to the static structure and a bar having a gripping region and a first end secured with respect to a main body portion of the light fixture. The mounting assembly may be adjustable such that the light fixture is held in a selected one of a plurality of possible orientations. In such embodiments, the gripper and the bar are configured for a finite number of the orientations such that the light fixture is held in a selected one of a plurality of orientations.

    Abstract: An LED light fixture includes a heat-sink body having a circuit-board mounting surface and a circuit board in thermal-contact relationship to the circuit-board mounting surface. The circuit board has an LED-populated area and a surrounding non-LED-populated area such that lateral heat conduction within the circuit board is greater than heat conduction from the circuit board to the circuit-board mounting surface. The fixture may be a low-profile LED light fixture including a base plate which has a substantially planar back surface, a front surface and heat-dissipating surfaces extending forward from the front surface. An LED circuit board and at least one LED power-circuitry unit, which are secured with respect to the front surface adjacent to the heat-dissipating surfaces, do not extend behind the back surface of the base plate.

    Abstract: In an embodiment of a light fixture support assembly for securing a light fixture to a fixed surface, the assembly includes a fixture-support member and a surface-attachment member. The fixture-support member has proximal and distal ends and also includes walls defining a compartment and further defining a first opening at the proximal end of the fixture-support member for communication with the surface-attachment member. The walls further define a second opening for communication with the light fixture. The fixture-support assembly also has a neck portion extending from the proximal end and the neck portion has a flange portion extending from it. The surface-attachment member includes a proximal end attached to the fixed surface and a distal end configured to engage the neck portion, whereby the fixture-support member is supported by the surface-attachment member when the neck portion is inserted into the fixture-support member.

The fixture attachment member further has a recessed portion defining a slideway which (a) is in lateral communication with the top opening, (b) has a width wider than the width of the mounting bracket, and (c) is spaced sufficiently lower than the opening-defining portions of the top to receive the two width sides of the mounting bracket. In use, the fixture attachment member can be positioned so that the mounting bracket is at least partially within the slideway and then repositioned so that the mounting bracket is within the top opening for light-fixture support.

    Abstract: A retrofit canopy luminaire assembly adapted for downward illumination and having a housing with inwardly-directed ledges near the lower edges of the housing. The luminaire has at least two support brackets secured to at least one of the ledges; a face plate removably secured to the brackets on the lower side of the housing; and a hanging tether attached to one of the brackets and to the face plate. The face plate is adapted to hold lighting fixture components. When the face plate is removed from the brackets, the face plate hangs freely held by the tether to allow free access to the inside of the luminaire.

The heat sink assembly has a first plate with inner and outer faces and a peripheral edge. Also included in the assembly is an expandable ring sandwiched between the first and second plates. The ring has an inward peripheral edge that engages the camming surface and an outward heat-transfer surface. The ring is expandable beyond the peripheries of the first and second plates. The heat sink assembly also has a sandwiching-device that adjustably interconnects the first and second plates such that sandwiching of the ring facilitates heat-transfer engagement of the heat-transfer surface with the main heat sink member.
