Patent number: 8171148Abstract: Systems and methods are described for establishing a connection between a client and a server that are each communicating via a network. The methods and techniques may be used, for example, to establish a media streaming connection between a media player and a placeshifting device when a firewall or other impediment to direct network connections exists. A relay server receives connection requests from the client and from the server via the network. In response to receiving the requests, a first connection is established between the relay server and the client and a second connection between the relay server and the server. Data received by the relay server on each of the first and second connections is relayed to the other of the first and second connections to thereby establish the connection between the client and the server via the relay server.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2009Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignee: Sling Media, Inc.Inventors: Brian Lucas, Ilya Asnis

Publication number: 20110099571Abstract: A method of determining whether live media content or time-shifted media content is received at a communication device is presented. In the method, attribute information concerning media content received at a communication device at a specific time is received. Also received is schedule information including an identity of media content carried at the specific time over a channel identified in the attribute information. The media content identity from the attribute information is compared with the media content identity from the schedule information. The received media content is determined to be live media content if the media content identity from the attribute information agrees with the media content identity from the schedule information. The received media content is determined to be time-shifted media content if the media content identity from the attribute information does not agree with the media content identity from the schedule information.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Applicant: SLING MEDIA, INC.Inventor: Brian Lucas

Patent number: 7917378Abstract: A claim pre-processing system employs trial adjudication to improve claim accuracy prior to claim submission to a healthcare payer institution or other entity. A system processes claim data related to provision of healthcare to a patient The system includes a claim data collator for collating data related to a claim for a particular patient for submission to a payer and a source of rules for use in processing collated claim data. A pre-processor submits the collated claim data for processing using the rules to validate the collated claim data is in condition for processing to initiate generation of payment. A claim processor submits the collated claim data to a payer, in response to successful validation by the pre-processor. A rules processor processes acquired claim data to identify a condition triggering application of a different set of rules for determining validity of an individual claim element.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2002Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Assignee: Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc.Inventors: David Fitzgerald, Brian Lucas, Greg Long, David Hiebert Klassen, Sr., John Hunter, Jon Zimmerman

Patent number: 7832053Abstract: A hinge assembly for a wireless communication device that pivotally connects a display housing member to a keypad housing member is described. The hinge assembly comprises an upper hinge arm, a lower hinge arm, and a rotating assembly. The upper hinge arm includes an upper hinge plate that is coupled to the display housing member. The lower hinge arm includes a lower hinge plate that is coupled to the keypad housing member. The rotating assembly comprises a first fastener, a second fastener and at least one conductive spring. The first fastener couples the upper hinge arm to one end of the rotating assembly. The second fastener couples the lower hinge arm to the other end of the rotating assembly. At least one conductive spring interfaces with at least one hinge end, and provides a ground path within the hinge assembly.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2007Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: Kyocera CorporationInventors: Eric Luksich, Michael Hidock, Brian Lucas Kash

Patent number: 7797172Abstract: A patient claim data processing system responds to and initiates clinical events and attains early accurate claim data during a patient healthcare encounter cycle to support prompt claim data validation and editing both for individual claim elements and for a completed claim to improve claim accuracy prior to claim submission to a payer. The system submits accurate claims to payers and receives remittance advice from payers and applies rules to the advice. A system processes financial data related to provision of healthcare to a patient in response to clinical events. The system includes an interface processor for receiving a message identifying an event and a related change in healthcare data concerning a patient and also includes a source of rules for determining characteristics associated with reimbursement for provision of an individual service to a patient.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2002Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc.Inventors: David Fitzgerald, Brian Lucas, Greg Long, David Hiebert Klassen, Sr., John Hunter

Publication number: 20080146886Abstract: The opening area of the vagina contains most of its nerve endings; this area is generally much more sensitive to pressure than the inner two-thirds of the vagina. This portion of the vagina is also more constricted than the inner two-third of the vaginal area. When dilated, such as during a vaginal examination, pressure on and near the vaginal opening may increase pressure upon the adjacent urethral opening and the pubic bone, causing increased discomfort without providing additional expansion of the area. The middle area of the vagina is more dilatable, has fewer nerve endings, and more readily deforms when pressure is applied. The disclosed speculum is intended to place little pressure on the somewhat constricted vaginal opening and allow for increased expansion through the middle area, resulting in less discomfort to the patient during examination and maximized viewing area. A speculum and method of use are disclosed. Embodiments of speculum include upper and lower speculum blades.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2007Publication date: June 19, 2008Inventor: David Brian Lucas
