  • Patent number: 8705971
Abstract: A method for optical network signaling processing of a signal from a first node to an end node through intermediate nodes is presented. The method comprises determining, in a first pass from the first node to the end node, available wavelengths and wavelength conversion at each node, the end node optimizing wavelengths using the available wavelengths and wavelength conversions, at each node, dropping a cross-connect command, in a second pass from the end node to the first node, choosing wavelengths for connection based on the optimizing step, in a third pass from the first node to the end node, receiving at each node a signal message and releasing unused cross-connect commands, the end node identifying the chosen wavelengths and releasing the unused resources, and transmitting the signal on the chosen wavelengths. Restoration paths can also be determined. Optimizing can include selecting and marking one or more backup wavelengths.

  • Publication number: 20140025695
Abstract: A non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions to be executed by a processor. The code causes the processor to receive, from a client device, a request for a service associated with a set of compute devices. The processor is caused to define a normalized request, based on a metadata associated with service requirements. The processor is caused to define a translated request for a compute device from the set of compute devices based on the normalized request. The processor is caused to send the translated request to the compute device in accordance with an endpoint interface associated with a format of the translated request. The processor is caused to receive data associated with the service from the compute device, in response to the translated request. The processor is caused to send, to the client device, a response having a format associated with the client device based on the data.

  • Publication number: 20140013380
Abstract: Example frequency agile band-pass filtering methods disclosed herein include sending a first command to a frequency agile band-pass filter included in a receiving system, the receiving system to process a media signal to receive first media provided by a first channel of the media signal, the first command being sent to cause the frequency agile band-pass filter to tune to and attenuate the first channel when the first channel is determined to be experiencing degradation caused by a first type of channel interference. Such example methods also include sending a subsequent second command to the frequency agile band-pass filter when the degradation is determined to be caused by fading in addition to the first type of channel interference, the subsequent second command to cause the frequency agile band-pass filter to bypass attenuation processing invoked by the first command during reception of the first channel.

  • Publication number: 20130240517
Abstract: A microwave heating system configured to heat a plurality of articles and a process for using the same is provided. The heating system includes at least two laterally-spaced parallel convey lines and two or more groups of microwave launchers configured to heat articles transported along each convey line. The groups of microwave launchers can include pairs of oppositely disposed launchers that are spaced apart from one another along the axis of convey. When the system includes multiple convey lines, adjacent launcher groups are staggered relative to one another in the convey direction. Heating articles, such as foodstuffs or medical fluids or equipment in such a system, minimize undesirable interference between launchers of adjacent groups and provide a more uniform heating field.

  • Publication number: 20130230367
Abstract: The disclosed book production system and method allow a book block and flexible book cover for that book block to be printed in the same print job immediately prior to binding. Specifically, a user-selection indicates that a book print job contains both the book block and the cover. Raster image processing is performed to produce raster images based on all page descriptions in the print job. The raster images are sorted by size to identify first raster images for the book block pages and to identify at least one second raster image, which is more than twice as large as any of the first raster images, for the cover. The pages for the book block and the cover can be printed on first print media sheets and on a second larger print media sheet, respectively. Then, the cover can be bound to the book block by an in-line bookbinder.
