  • Patent number: 8116401
Abstract: A method and system for digital spur cancellation may include removing a spur in a left channel minus right channel (L?R) baseband signal generated from a FM signal. The L?R baseband signal may be generated by demodulating a sub-carrier, for example, by using CORDIC algorithm, in a signal demodulated from the FM signal. An orthogonal signal may also be generated by demodulating a sub-carrier, for example, by using CORDIC algorithm, in a signal demodulated from the FM signal. The phase of the orthogonal signal may be further adjusted to introduce a substantially ?90° phase shift to spurs at a specific frequency. Accordingly, the spurs in the L?R baseband signal may be cancelled when the first L?R baseband signal is combined with the phase adjusted orthogonal signal.

  • Publication number: 20120034870
Abstract: A method and system for achieving enhanced quality and higher throughput for collocated IEEE 802.11b/g and Bluetooth (BT) devices in coexistent operation are provided. A priority signal may be generated by a BT radio in a coexistence station to disable WLAN transmissions in a WLAN radio when a BT HV3 frame is available for transmission. When the priority signal is asserted, an exponentially growing retransmission backoff mechanism in the WLAN radio may be disabled. Moreover, when the BT radio and the WLAN radio are enabled for coexistence operation, a WLAN fragmentation threshold in the WLAN radio may be modified based on a WLAN modulation rate and the BT HV3 frame duration.

  • Patent number: 8112034
Abstract: In RF transceivers, a method and system for using phase shift key (PSK) sync word for fine tuning frequency adjustment are provided. One aspect of the invention provides for adjusting a local oscillator frequency in a radio frequency (RF) receiver when a residual DC offset remains after a coarse frequency offset adjustment if performed. The fine adjustment may be necessary because of the synchronization required with a PSK-based modulated portion of a Bluetooth packet. A residual phase shift detected in a sync sequence portion of the Bluetooth packet may be utilized to determine a residual or fine frequency adjustment. This approach may allow an RF receiver to operate, in some instances, without the need for an equalizer. In this regard, the power consumed by the RF receiver may be minimized and/or the overall cost of the RF receiver may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8107890
Abstract: A device includes a transcevier and a processing module. The transceiver is operable to receive a wireless communication request from a requesting wireless communication device and to convert the wireless communication request into a baseband or near baseband request signal. The processing module is operable to determine multiple frequency band multiple standard (MFBMS) capabilities of the requesting and the target wireless communication devices based on the baseband or near baseband request signal. When the devices have at least two frequency band standards in common, the processing module allocates a communication resource of one of the two frequency band standards for a first communication path from the requesting wireless communication device to the target wireless communication device and allocates a communication resource of another one of the two frequency band standards for a second communication path from the target wireless communication device to the requesting wireless communication device.

  • Publication number: 20120003942
Abstract: In a radio comprising a transmitter and a receiver, transmission and reception of signals may be controlled based on received signal strength measurements from a signal strength indicator module and transmitted signal strength measurements from the signal strength indicator module. For the transmitted signal strength measurements, the shared signal strength indicator module may measure signal strength of a signal output by a power amplifier. For the received signal strength measurements, the shared signal strength indicator module may measure signal strength of a received signal. A capacitance coupled to an output of the power amplifier may be configured based on a frequency of the signal output by the power amplifier. A gain of the power amplifier may be controlled based on the transmitted signal strength measurements. For the transmitted signal strength measurements, an analog-to-digital converter may process the signal output by the power amplifier.

  • Publication number: 20110319020
Abstract: A Bluetooth low energy (BLE) device receives advertising packets from an advertising BLE device. The BLE device filters the received advertising packets utilizing hardware to search for the advertiser. If the advertiser is not found by the hardware, the packet filtering continues utilizing firmware. Device identity information, comprising non-private and/or private device identities, of preferred BLE devices is partitioned to form a different white list for the hardware, firmware, and host, respectively, to concurrently support privacy and white listing. If the advertiser is found by the hardware, the hardware sends a response to the advertiser following a successful CRC check performed in the hardware. If the advertiser is found by the firmware, the device identity information of the advertiser is inserted in the white list for the hardware. The host may be awakened based on the device configuration and/or attribute type information of the received advertising packets.

  • Patent number: 8081929
Abstract: Methods and systems for optimal frequency planning for an integrated communication system with multiple receivers may include adjusting a center frequency of a low IF signal to reduce interference by a second order interference signal. The center frequency may be adjusted to avoid high power portions of the second order interference signal. The interference level corresponding to a center frequency may be determined by, for example, a SNR of the low IF signal, or by determining a BER for the low IF signal. The center frequency of the low IF signal may be dynamically adjusted to keep second order interference level at an acceptable level. Adjusting the center frequency of the low IF signal may also comprise keeping the low IF signal from being blocked by a DC component of the second order interference signal.

  • Patent number: 8050647
Abstract: In RF transceivers, a method and a system for a frequency feedback adjustment in digital receivers are provided. A DC offset may result from the difference in frequencies between an RF transmitter and an RF receiver. An adjustment of the receiver's frequency may be implemented after synchronization occurs and may be performed by, for example, utilizing a header portion of a packet communicated via a wireless interface. The adjustment may be performed when the frequency difference exceeds a threshold value. In another aspect, adjusting the frequency of the RF receiver may be performed by modifying and/or changing a phase locked loop (PLL) trimmer register. This approach may allow an RF receiver to operate, in some instances, without the need for an equalizer. In this regard, the power consumed by the RF receiver may be minimized and/or the overall cost of the RF receiver may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8019309
Abstract: In RF transceivers, a method and system for a second order input intercept point (IIP2) calibration scheme are provided. Transceiver calibration schemes to compensate for DC offsets produced by interfering signals may be performed during production testing or field operation. During production testing, an external source may inject a blocker signal that produces DC offsets in the receiver portion of the transceiver. A transceiver switch may be set to receive mode in this scheme. During field operation, a power amplifier in the transmitter portion of the transceiver may inject the blocker signal. In this scheme, the switch may be set to transmit mode and the DC offsets are produced by the portion of the injected blocker signal that leaks through the switch. In both schemes, a DC offset sensor detects DC offsets in the I/Q signal paths and may determine compensation currents which may be applied by injection circuits.
