  • Patent number: 7640123
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for detecting Bluetooth signals utilizing a wideband receiver are provided. In this regard, a frequency band may be scanned by receiving signals on each of a plurality of sub-bands for an amount of time, the energy received in each band may be compared to a threshold, and whether each sub-band comprises a Bluetooth transmission may be determined based on a FFT. Additionally, the FFT may enable determining on which Bluetooth channel a detected transmission occurred. A FFT may be performed when energy detected in a sub-band is higher than a threshold. The sub-bands may each be a WLAN channel. A type of a detected Bluetooth transmission may be determined based on a number of scans in which the transmission is detected. Each sub-band may be received for less than or equal to 68 ?s divided by the number of sub-bands.

  • Publication number: 20090302966
Abstract: Methods and systems for optimal frequency planning for an integrated communication system with multiple receivers may include adjusting a center frequency of a low IF signal to reduce interference by a second order interference signal. The center frequency may be adjusted to avoid high power portions of the second order interference signal. The interference level corresponding to a center frequency may be determined by, for example, a SNR of the low IF signal, or by determining a BER for the low IF signal. The center frequency of the low IF signal may be dynamically adjusted to keep second order interference level at an acceptable level. Adjusting the center frequency of the low IF signal may also comprise keeping the low IF signal from being blocked by a DC component of the second order interference signal.

  • Patent number: 7599662
Abstract: In RF transceivers, a method and a system for a frequency feedback adjustment in digital receivers are provided. A DC offset may result from the difference in frequencies between an RF transmitter and an RF receiver. An adjustment of the receiver's frequency may be implemented after synchronization occurs and may be performed by utilizing the Forward Error Correction (FEC) repetition rate in a header of a Bluetooth packet. The adjustment may be performed when the frequency difference exceeds a threshold value. In another aspect, adjusting the frequency of the RF receiver may be performed by modifying and/or changing a phase locked loop (PLL) trimmer register. This approach may allow an RF receiver to operate, in some instances, without the need for an equalizer. In this regard, the power consumed by the RF receiver may be minimized and/or the overall cost of the RF receiver may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7546099
Abstract: Methods for removing complexity from a Bluetooth processor's firmware and placing them in hardware in order to use a simplier processor or to do other tasks in the Bluetooth processor. Assembling and managing communication packets and transmission, providing modulo divides, and allocating memory are typical firmware tasks for a Bluetooth device. By creating circuits that assemble and manage communications packets and transmits, provide modulo divides, and manage Bluetooth device memory a processing burden can be removed from the Bluetooth processor. This lessened processing requirement allows less expensive, e.g. slower, processors to be used, or other functions to be incorporated into the processor's firmware.
