  • Patent number: 7350576
Abstract: Methods for using rapid setting plugging compositions comprising oil, clay, magnesium chloride, and magnesium oxide powder to seal permeable zones in subterranean formations are provided. The permeable zones may be sealed by passing the plugging composition and water to the subterranean formation. While being exposed to downhole temperatures in a range of from about 0° F. to about 500° F., the plugging composition quickly thickens to form a sealing mass that is substantially impermeable to fluid in less than about 1 minute after contacting the water. It then usually develops an effective amount of compressive strength to prevent it from being washed away within a period ranging from about 5 minutes to about 2 hours at temperatures ranging from about 0° F. to about 500° F.

  • Publication number: 20070223863
Abstract: An optical fibre connector system, including an optical connector disposed therein, and a recess allowing a through connector to be connected to the optical connector. The optical fibre connector system includes an engagement mechanism that acts on the optical connector to prevent release of the through connector when connected to the optical connector, and which is operable to enable release of the through connector. The engagement mechanism is a movable element that normally engages the connector to the support and which can be moved to disengage the connector from the support, thereby releasing the through connector.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention comprises a sound responsive light system. The system comprises an amplifier configured to receive an input signal from an audio source. The input signal corresponds to an audio signal. The system further comprises a plurality of filters configured to receive an amplified signal from the amplifier. A selected filter filters out signals outside of a selected frequency range. The system further comprises a group of light sources associated with the selected filter. The system further comprises a driver coupled to the group of light sources and configured to regulate a current and/or a voltage supplied to a selected light source. The current and/or voltage supplied to the selected light source depends at least partially on an amplitude of signals within the selected frequency range. The group of light sources are positioned in a spiral. The group of light sources are associated with multiple colors.

  • Publication number: 20070013088
Abstract: A carburetor utilizing a compact main fuel delivery device that provides fine droplets of fuel spread across an airflow orifice. The main fuel delivery device does not require the use of a main jet or emulsion well prior to the point of the fuel interacting with the atmosphere of the air flow orifice or venturi. The airflow orifice and other mixture forming components of the carburetor are contained within plates and formed by the assemblage of the plates. A centrally located bolt provides the securing and sealing force necessary for operation of the carburetor. The entire above the fuel level mixture controlling systems can be removed from the carburetor after unfastening the central bolt. It is not necessary to drain the carburetor of fuel to change the jetting or other settings of the carburetor.

  • Patent number: 7024475
Abstract: A modeling tool that is executable in a system includes a modeling application that is capable of deriving a predicted quality of communications in a represented communications system. A user may create a representation of a target communication system by using icons representing different network components to build the representation in a user interface. Each of the network components is associated with one or more performance parameters, such as packet delay, packet loss, and jitter for packet-based network components. An overall performance parameter, such as an overall packet delay, overall packet loss, and overall jitter may be derived based on the performance parameters for each of the network components. From the overall performance parameters, the expected or predicted performance of the target communications system may be determined by using an E-model in one arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20050238023
Abstract: The present invention provides an audio FSK encoded digital data packet embedded in the audio message portion of an EAS protocol transmission, and to methods for encoding and for recognizing and decoding the data packet. A digital audio FSK encoded digital data packet embedded in the audio message portion of an EAS protocol transmission comprises a packet header, control codes, and content data. The data packet header identifies the beginning of the data packet. The control codes provide structural information about the content data segment of the data packet. The content data comprising at least primary text and/or other primary data as described by the control codes, and optionally, containing auxiliary device control data and content encryption data as described by optional control codes, and the end of content data identifying the end of the embedded data packet, all from which an EAS audio FSK decoder may reconstruct the original embedded digital data.

  • Patent number: 6506605
Abstract: An OBD system is provided for monitoring an ozone depletion system that includes a catalyst coating containing MnO2 applied to a heat exchange surface on a moving vehicle over which atmospheric air passes. A physical characteristic of the catalyst coating or a material containing a physical characteristic within the catalyst coating is sensed to determine the presence or absence of the catalyst coating for detecting catastrophic failure of the ozone depleting system and/or degradation or wear of the catalyst coating to ascertain the efficiency of the catalyst coating.

  • Patent number: 6237575
Abstract: A pre-vaporized fuel system for use in fueling an internal combustion engine is provided with a dynamic infrared sensor. The infrared sensor senses the hydrocarbon content of the vaporized fuel which information is used by the engine control module to control engine fueling to minimize emissions. The infrared source is operated to maintain the pre-vaporized fuel below its lower explosive limit and the thermopile detector electronics is synchronized with the light pulse frequency to develop fast signal responses suitable for fueling control.

  • Patent number: 6123495
Abstract: The transport includes a U-shaped chassis frame supported on wheels and a lift frame vertically movable within the chassis such that the lift frame can rest on the ground and move above the chassis frame. A plurality of winches are located on the lift frame and are driven in common through a step-down gear mechanism powered by a hand crank. Each winch includes a strap having a free end and a fixed end attached to the winch. The free end includes a fastener for temporarily attaching the strap to the chassis frame. Near each winch is a riser attached to the chassis frame and the strap from the winch passes over the riser to enable the lift frame to be raised slightly higher than the chassis frame.

  • Patent number: 5832233
Abstract: A data processing element comprises at least one processor, a main memory, and a network coupler for coupling the processing element to a network. The network coupler includes a packing circuit for assembling the data frames into intermediate units of data, referred to as parcels, and a network coupler processor for assembling the parcels into datagrams in the main memory. Thus, the packing circuit relieves the network coupler processor of a substantial amount of low-level processing work.

  • Patent number: 5027446
Abstract: In a mechanism for raising and lowering disabled persons on a toilet seat the toilet seat is mounted on a carriage which is operated by water-powered cylinders connected to the closet water supply, having the pressure controlled by an adjustable pressure limiting valve and a hand controlled admission valve. The seat is moved vertically throughout its travel to facilitate the user in moving onto and off the seat at their own volition. The cylinders of the mechanism are substantially self-aligning, upon a flexible and laterally adjustable base, having a height adjustment capability, for use with toilets of different heights. The flexible, laterally adjustable base provides adaptation to different width toilets. The toilet seat support platform is pivotally mounted on a supporting carriage as a safety measure, to preclude crushing of anything trapped therebeneath, between the seat platform and the top rim of the toilet bowl, under downward force applied by the double-acting water powered cylinders.
